Wicksteed Park - Northamptonshire

My local park are adding a new ride at the moment nothing is announced as to type but construction has already started as can be seen in these pictures.

Seems to be a flat ride of some sort with the footers evenly spread two banks of 4.

Possibly a pirate ship, frisbee or maybe a Ferris wheel.

It’s great to see them adding new additions after nearly closing during lockdown , I can’t remember where but I heard it is possibly a big wheel ?

Another small update from yesterday the area has now been cleared and the old fish and chip shop removed and also the temporary units in front moved.

One thing that does strike me is the proximity to the fence and road at the back.

This site is at the top of the park next to Sway Rider the chair swing ride.

It's actually to the side of where the old double pirate ship was and is definitely a new attraction that has been confirmed by the park.

The housing is as you say on the campsite and very old 9 hole golf course which is the other side of the park

Gotcha. I was just browsing the local rags to see if I could spot anything! What you say makes sense… thanks for the info!

So a slight update I believe this attraction will be a Ferris wheel.

Not sure on size or make or model at the moment.

Small update and attached concept artwork confirms an 82ft high Ferris wheel called The Garden Wheel.

The first parts of which are now vertical hoping to get to the park in the coming days to get some pictures but can see from driving past work is progressing nicely.

They are hoping to have this open for when the park opens as well.

They have also mentioned in a press article its the first of the new rides this year.

Looks nice, but why do the roof bits remind me of table tennis tables? 🙃

Just as an update the spines are now going on the wheel.

The park have also confirmed that three new attractions will go in this year.

I am led to believe one of these is a swinging ride likely a pirate ship not sure on location as yet but it's bottom end of the park so splash or action zone.

I will hopefully be going along this weekend so will grab some pics.

So finally managed to get back to the park.

The Garden Wheel is coming along nicely as can be seen from the pics below.

As stated the park themselves have said there will be three new attractions this year and below is some pictures of another development down by the canoes.

This is actually very close to where the old nautical jets were (boat on a rope)

This obviously looks like a ride on rails ride, no carriages were around so can't confirm if this is a horse riding attraction or something else.

I am lead to believe the third attraction is a pirate ship I did have a scout around but can't see any other developments at the moment there is some steel in the top car park that kind of looks like it might be for that attraction.

Should hopefully have some more time this weekend to look.

For now though here are the pics.
