You know you're getting old when...

You know you are getting old when.....

You tell your son that the (so called) music he is listening to all sounds the ****** same !!!!

Still remember my dad saying that to me in the 1980's. Can't believe I am saying the same thing now ( but in my case I am correct :) )

Pub meal out, noticed I was paying £3:30 a pint for decent cask bitter.
Exactly eleven times the cost of a pint at the start of my boozing career.
Used to go out on a weeknight with two mates, taking a quid each.
Three pints for 90p, leaving 10p for a game of pool.
Now three pints for £9:90, leaving 10p out of a tenner for a game of pool.
Or not.

Quids, Swansea, in the 90s. Every drink a quid. Amazing. Blue WKDs all round.

It's the smokers I feel sorry for. £1.98 for 20 when I was on the B&H.

It’s not even down to inflation either

Most of the increase is tax by the government to stop people smoking and drinking

I've paid £6.60 a pint for IPA in London :-(

On cigarettes, yes. But on alcohol, not really. Alcohol is still "cheap" in the supermarkets, can easily pay under £1 a pint. A bit more in Wales & Scotland due to minimum unit pricing of course.
I think there are many other factors that have caused the hike in prices to drink in the pub, but not sure if tax is the biggest factor.

I was going to ask the London price!
Is that typical or rip off?

its not unusual for IPA and premium craft beers but at some places even Peroni is £5.50, particularly in chain breweries like Greene King in central London.
Wetherspoons is a bit better but often still around £4-5 a pint.

Went to the first Wrexham home game on Monday and paid £2.15 for a pint of swamp water and then £6 in a trendy new sports bar for a schooner of Delirium, so not just limited to the M25.

It seems that draught Hop House has also disappeared off the face of the earth as well :( Which is usually my go to reasonably priced pint.

...you have a fantastic day at the Towers, but a full week later your **** is still trying it's best to manage that large mixed kebab from eastern express, followed by the smiler and double nemesis front row.
My alimentary canal is getting too old for loops and food.
Time to cut down on the food.

Good to see you have your priorities right!
