You know you're getting old when...

Star Trek: Generations came out thirty years ago today.

I saw it in the cinema with my girlfriend. She said it was boring and walked out.
A few weeks previously, we had watched Police Academy 7: Mission to Moscow, and she had no complaints.
We did not continue dating after that.

Christ, I remember being hyped for this. Had to wait until it came out on VHS to see it. Think we rented it from choices. Need to watch it again, not seen for a while.

I was opposite to you. I watched it on an ex's TV, during a lazy Sunday. She moaned it was on then actually enjoyed it.

Fifty two years since the birth of Pong on Atari people!

I remember, by the following Christmas, every nasty plastic electric manufacturer (Binatone and Tandy come to mind) had their version in the shops.

With all the unconstrained brats banging on every ******* table in the Velvet yesterday teatime, and not a table to spare as they only had one of three levels open on a busy illumination Saturday...straight in, ****, straight out again...unanimous.
Small children should be fried if not under full adult supervision.
Lovely dodgy kebab for tea when we got home instead.

Even if they played loud music...it would not have been heard over the racket.

Time to reinstate the family lounge and adult bar areas, and similar in dining areas - I say that as a parent. I didn’t inflict chimp on people when she was too young to behave, I don’t understand why other people do.

Had a meal out yesterday and was surrounded by squawking toddlers. I’ve done my time with children at that stage, take them to harvester please not the pub.

Leave the little sods in the car where they belong...
That was my minor youth...usually on the way back from Southport.
Crisps and pop in the car... while "those that could behave could have a real meal in peace".
I think that was the phrase.

I can’t believe Xbox/PS5 games take longer to download compared to the time it took a game to load on the Atari 800XL or Commodore 64.
My Daughter asked me what did we use to do while the game was loading and I said we use to go out and play and sometimes the tape finished but the game failed to load.

I gave up playing games when you no longer owned said game on physical media.

Just purchased my good lady two games on good old cds.
They are still out there in the shops, ps5 ones even.
Still not hooked my game machine up tut t'internet.
I envy you. Really dislike playing anything online. Just try to play a game and you hear nothing but ten year olds spamming emotes and screaming offensive slurs at each other down their microphones.

This XKCD, man.

Class 376 Electrostar trains turn 20 this year.
I still remember when they first appeared, and overhearing someone on the phone who's partner refused to believe he was on the train home, because it was too quiet.

It probably doesn't help that on many railway lines around the UK, 20 year old trains are still often the newest rolling stock running!

On my local line, you mostly see a mix of 25 year old Class 170 Turbostar trains from CrossCountry and 40 year old Class 150 trains from Transport for Wales. On odd occasions, TfW have begun running their new 2022 trains, but the 40 year old screechers are still a staple of my local railway experience!

Nevermind the fine trains of this nation growing old.

I should Coco and all change are both 30 this year.
