OK, mine is a bit naff but it none the less amuses me.

Though not equal to some on here, my knowledge is higher than most of my mates! Stay one lesson ahead of the pupil and all that jazz.

So on a day, it's inevitable when in a queue, I will bore the pants off my pals with endless dispatching, throughput, reliability conversation etc... that is, until the penny drops...

aha%20moment%2072.jpg

and they realise, all this stuff affects their day.

By the end of which, I am usually getting the pants bored off me, by my mates now pointing out every time the train isn't dispatched correctly, and furiously trying to count every empty seat that whizzes past!

"Why is that on the brake run, yet they haven't dispatched another train??"

"LOOOK! There are 8 empty seats on that one!!"

It isn't too long, before you find them watching POVs, and asking you of news of new rides and park details etc :)

They're likely never be on here debating the finer points of enthusiasm, or addiction as John W may well call it ;D - but, the more aware the people are of what makes a park work and why, the more chance we have of making a good impact and affecting change in a positive way, for the good of the Parks and those people who enjoy them.

The reason I love them so much, is that when run correctly, they are the true bastion of a great day out, as we all know.

Whether you love thrills, adrenaline, maths, science, the theatrical, creativity - when done well, they cross many barriers with one goal in mind... providing a brilliant experience.

My contribution isn't huge, but I make one none the less - but what I am interested in, is what things have you done to make the Theme Park world better?

Make them funny, serious whatever - this is a celebration of what we do, and why we do it!

Looking forward to reading your replies.

Pretty obvious with myself hopefully. Always been eager to appreciate and to share anything relating to the history of the place. I'm not so lively these days (due to other commitments) with regards to that stuff but still try to get something out there every month or so via Youtube or my site. Got a project well in the pipeline with another talented person which I'm sure will end up in a reputable publication in the next couple of years (I'm holding it up by being busy at the moment).

Sounds great Barry! Good luck with that (and finding time lol!)

I won't interject after every post by the way, this is for you to share the things you are proud of :)

Might give others some ideas or inspiration too!

Don't be shy folks, dust off the old trumpet and give it a blow ;D

Wish people I know were like that, they mostly take the micky out of my interest!

I like cake, it's not about meets, it's about what you do that contributes to the enthusiast community - nowt to do if you met anyone yet mate, I'm sure though there is much cakeness on meets! :)

Thanks Rowe, I haven't seen your videos yet, where are they hiding?? This kinda thing would be great for new comers to the forum (like me) to get a feel for meets etc, how badly you all behave etc ;D - how far from the General Public the courts order you all to stay etc ;)

Our... Contributions?

Well, unless we've personally designed and hand-crafted a rollercoaster I guess it's just our passion and postings on websites like these :)

Craig, Joel and the team on here can very easily state their contributions - it's a very obvious thing. I pointed out, how I speak to people to encourage them to enjoy the finer details of the park, which they do - inevitably leading to more interest, and knowledge.

There are guys like Barry, involved in projects, I've seen chaps put up the score for themes, there are information sites, media rich resources - all of which, no one gets paid for, but will encourage and assist the industry.

I know on the last site, there was even a Council of some description. This thread, is not about people coming on to dismiss or belittle the thread or anyone's contributions.

It is about a celebration of what people do, and maybe giving others inspiration of ways they can further immerse themselves into their hobby/passion related to other interests and skills, and perhaps in ways they did not consider.

So it's far more than postings on a thread, and that does a great disservice to those whom have given their time, resources and in some cases money - for others to have a better experience.

If you feel yours is simply posting on here, great! I have learned a great deal from people posting and speaking passionately - which in turn, has made its way into areas you have no idea of, believe me, in a very very good way, but you most certainly don't need to be a coaster designer to have contributed to this community, that's for sure.

;)

Every closed season I sacrifice a goat to the great Wardley in the sky so that the coasters continue to cometh and spread their joy.

(I'm not sure that I understand this topic...)

I suppose I'm sort of the voice of disproportionate anger, cynicism, and not-necessarily well thought out ideas.

My Throughput Calculator. :)

Also, my daily scouring of the dark corners of the web for news to bring to 'All Other Attractions'. :)

That throughput calculator is a brilliant idea Sam, and is exactly what I am talking about - come Meaty my friend, don't get on my back on this thread dude ;) - play nice in this one ;D

Being serious, Sam, Rowe, Barry - we now have those contributions in one topic - but still some of you don't get the point? Come on... honestly? Got to get up earlier than that in the morning to sneak that past me.

I'm sure many of the regs know what you all do, some of these things, I didn't and I'm looking forward to looking more into when I have some proper time to really delve into it.

Don't assume people won't find some value in what you do, or that what you do isn't good enough for a mention - great things blossom from conversations and discussions like this, which can make a difference to stuff we're passionate about.

You all do this for no reward, that means it's done from passion, which is superb!

I think 99% of the forum just contribute because we like chatting to the rest of the community about a subject we all love :)

Nice to realise though that as someone on the fringes of Enthusiasm, knowing enough to get along in here just about, but not as much as some of the amazing knowledge in here - I wouldn't underestimate the importance of that.

Pretty much everything I know, or lead I followed to learn more, or clue, initially came from lurking on TTF and watching you lot.

I've probably got the edge on business/customer service/hospitality industry on here rather than specialist coaster stuff like you dudes can have - but it has made a huge difference to how I view, and indeed enjoy a day out, that has been passed on to others who now do the same.

You make more difference than you may realise. For everyone that posts here, there are probably a 100 watching... and learning.
