-PRESS RELEASE- ALTONVILLE MINE TOURS TO REOPEN

Altonville Mine are delighted to announce that the authorities have rounded up the notorious Skin Snatchers. And so our popular tour service is due to reopen in time for the 2023 Halloween season. The operators would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused during the unexpected closure.

We would like to take the opportunity to stress that the mines are now perfectly safe for visitors and contrary to what customers may have read the 'skin snatcher' known as Tiny has not evaded justice, and most certainly has not been seen back in the vicinity of the Altonville Mines. If you would like more information regarding the local legend of The Skin Snatchers please do ask one of our tour guides, who can lift the mask on this urban legend.

We hope that by reopening this season, our tours can help revitalise the local tourist economy after recent unfortunate occurrences at the Altonville Motel, not to mention the 'farm incident' of some years ago.

Attraction History

Altonville Mine Tours was first introduced in 2016, replacing the short-lived maze The Haunting of Molly Crowe in East Wing of the Towers. Originally named The Skin Snatchers, the new name was announced on the official website on Friday 2nd September 2016.

The maze has since become a staple of Scarefest and one of the longest running mazes in the event's history. In 2023 the familiar storyline received an update to become Altonville Mine Tours: Tiny’s Revenge, featuring the cat and mouse story of the cops' hunt for the fugitive Skin Snatcher.
