2014: General Discussion

Indeed. I don't really have an opinion on the planters. I don't think they look great but at the same time I don't think they look awful. However it's perfectly reasonable for people to either not like them or like them!

:)

To be honest there must little to moan about if and only if the biggest concern is that they have put some plants on a bridge behind a fence. What next.

The non theming of Air tunnel, not maintaining the Nemesis monster, upsellers causing a bottle neck by the turnstiles, pay to use lockers.

I like how people who share their opinions can get called "stupid moaners".

No they're not moaners, they have a different view to yours. That's how forums work I thought...
Of course they're allowed to have a different view. It just seems weird that the only thing this forum seems to want is progress and improvements in the park.. then someone tries it and they get shot down. Planters, Enchanted Village..

By all means, I'd join in if there was absolutely no progress whatsoever, or if they introduced a huge games unit there. But they haven't.. sooo..

I think it is just one of them things you have to see in real life. For example I think the new planters and also the show lodge look perfectly fine in person and better than the photos show.

I think people generally do appreciate the efforts put into certain things at Towers. But it's fair for people to criticise how ideas come to reality. The lodges are great, but a far cry from the original plans from a year or two ago. The planters too seem pretty pointless when the fence still stands out more. Nice ideas (moreso the lodges since plants aren't exactly make or break), just not quite realised. Although saying that all we have to judge the lodges on its a show lodge and a muddy field. Bit hard to come to conclusions just yet.

I haven't seen much "shooting down", it may appear like that to, say, the person who created the ideas and sees the negative comments online. Maybe even to friends/close contacts of these people who create the ideas. But on the whole opinions on the lodges have been pretty balanced and fair on both sides. The planters just seems to be a case of the majority agreeing about same thing. Nothing wrong with that. We aren't all here to pretend we all share the same views.

I guess at the end of the day it depends how you interpret comments on here. It's the internet so it's always difficult to understand what kind of tone someone is speaking in.

I personally believe on this forum there seems to be more negative comments than positive ones just due to the fact the majority people have been to a lot of parks around the world. Which are in an entirely different league to Towers (which in theory should be just as good as some highly regarded worldwide parks). But then that's a debate for another day.

Yes and people can reply to that opinion with the opinion that the situation has been over exaggerated. Why should one opinion because it's negative have defence against those who disagree and believe it's a part of a wider negativity in this community?

Seems to me anyone who tries to say anything positive about the place get mocked and ridiculed and if they respond in kind then get accused of being mean.

And the lodges are exactly the same as the plans for two years ago.

The problem isn't the planters, it's the fence... which we have all had a good moan about already.
Bless 'em, they are trying. But nomatter how much glitter you sprinkle on a turd, it still stinks.

I did write a jokey post about the planters being behind the fence.
I quite like the planters and once , as it been said on this thread already, as soon as the plants get established they will look great.
The fence was the aim of my post.

Today has been a crazily busy day for the park, with ride close extended to 7pm, and queues of traffic long into the afternoon! Did you join the madness today?!

Am I reading that correctly? 7pm? I think I need a lie down.

Someone hasn't told the finance department!! :p

In all seriousness, that's great to see!

:)

Another 7pm closing as of today! With only The Smiler boasting a lengthy queue time of 100 minutes (and the usual 45 minutes for the main CBeebies attractions), I wouldn't have thought they'd push for a 6:30pm closing, nevermind a 7pm park close. I really hope this becomes more frequent next year.

Just got back from Towers today and the queues were quite bearable to be fair. I didn't know ride close had been extended to 7pm which did leave me wondering why the rides stayed open after 6pm but oh well.

A few notes:

I had a ride on The Smiler (back row) which seemed incredibly smooth. Didn't note the train number but it was promising! The mist was working in the station but not in the indoor section. All Marmaliser effects were working aside from the Tickler.

The plants on the bridge look better in person than they do in photos. Still not the best solution but better than nothing.

Lodges look gloriousssss

Roaming park entertainment is good. They interacted throughout the day with numerous guests which was good to see.

TH13TEEN's shutter still hasn't been fixed.

Throughputs seemed good park-wide, especially Oblivion as always.

The shutter was working when I rode on Monday, but it has been very unreliable all season.
