General Hotel Discussion

One thing I will say about my visit there last week, there were four staff around the bar area (serving and collecting glasses) and all 4 of them had the green "in training" lanyards. I couldn't see anyone in charge or training them. One guy behind the bar clearly didn't have a clue about anything, it took three attempts to get the correct drink for me (and I only order a bottled drink!)

Quick post: Unsure if this has always been this way pricing wise but now when booking a stay through the website you get greeted with this obnoxious advert:

So for £50 extra than a normal room you can upgrade, again not sure if it has always priced like that but there is now a shiny banner to point it out :D

Nice to see Merlin/Towers are continuing to expand their dictionary of seemingly made up words! :p

I don't know what's hurting my eyes more, the word 'Supremium', or the amount of Photoshop errors in that promotional image. :anguished:

I upgraded for £45 instead of £50 after I got an email. Dunno why it was £5 less but it's nice to see AT making the price lower on something for a change!

To a moon voyage room from a explorer room. Was worth it to have more than one plug socket!
Moon Voyager rooms are the SUPREMIUM!!!!!!!11!!!!!!11!!!!!!!!!!@!!1!!1! rooms though and explorer are the standard ones, so I can see why the price is lowered. :)

Stayed on Monday night and only paid for a standard room but ended up in a moon voyager room which was a nice surprise! Can see why kids would like it as the bunk beds have a little more privacy with their own TV. Also there was plenty of plug sockets which was lovely! The room was lovely but not sure if I'd pay extra for it.

In regards to the bar, ordered a pitcher at the bar to be told they didn't have any, wasn't a particularly busy night even.

Random question....

How does the parking work for the fireworks at the hotel? I'm there on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the hotel although I'm off to the football on Saturday so will return to the hotel about 7ish, will I have to park in a field?!?

I'm sure you can still park in the hotel if there's any parking spaces left, otherwise you'd have to park in the park guest car park, be it the permanent one, or the field. I wouldn't have thought that they can reserve your spot (unless you're in a VIP room; Smiler, Chocolate, Sonic etc), but it's worth asking at reception anyway.

You have the right to park in the hotel car park as you're a paying guest at the hotel. Of course, many people sneak into the hotel car parks to avoid having to use the fields or furthest guest parking.

I'd ask at reception to see what the best course of action is :)

Just not looking forward to treking back from a field and then back to the same field to recover my car the next day...

I have flashbacks of scarefest several years ago with my mate having to dig another friend out the field!!!

Double post, just received my pre arrival email and there is no vehicle access to tge resort between 6.30pm and 11.00 pm meaning I can't get back to the hotel.....

Was I told this at time of booking? No! I think it's disgusting that they charge premium prices yet you can't get access to the hotel. If the park infrastructure isn't there then don't hold events like this!!!!

I've contacted them and if the can't facilitate me getting back on site around 20.00 then the booking will be cancelled (I have football tickets that I paid £100 for)

Yet another case of merlin charging premium prices and offering sub standard service!

There is a security gate which is manned 24/7 and can allow access to the park, and have done for me after park close. Id keep your confirmation letter e-mail handy in the car though.
