Towers is Tired and Run Down

I read a lot on here that people think the park is tired and rundown.
Maybe I need glasses or I walk around oblivious to my surroundings and don't see it.
So please people enlighten me as to what you think.

:)

If I hadn't visited yesterday, I'd have said no. But seeing x-sector... it's really depressing :(. No music, 1 open ride, the smiler empty and quiet. No intimidating atmosphere, just oblivion trying alone to keep x-sector alive. Half of duels targets were off (literally every one in the first two rooms), the air tunnel (need I say more), and the lack of people.

However, the street entertainers were amazing, the staff are really helpfully, and rides like nemesis and oblivion never fail to remind me that there is still magic :D

You should enlighten us as to what substance you consume in order to see through the neglect bestowed upon the park.

Nemesis's station is a disgrace. The whole of the Dark Forest is tragic and don't even get me started on the state of The Flume.

I will agree the flume, but it is 35 years old so it's bound to be a bit tired n saggy,
Nemesis has always looked the same, I believe
Dark forest, well tired and run down, no, theme not working , possibly

Have you not been to Dark Forest since 2010? :p

Dark Forest is the most run down area of the whole park, it is a state. Heck it's more like Ug Land with all the old paintwork showing through.

:)

Oh, i thought that was the theme!
All DF needs is the scafolding changing to a permanent structure.:D

I saw some Rita queen of speed merch in the shop the other day, been relabeled to have the new logo, but definitely QOS. Rita has no music of its own, no real theme, no real storyline and no worth-waiting-for ride experience. It is really painful to ride. You can argue the idea that Alton is tired and run down, but Rita really is. So is airs tunnel, nemesis's station, gloomy wood, duel and mutiny bay.

Well @DiogoJ42 is getting pretty ancient now and he certainly doesn't struggle to see the negatives at Towers ;)
he's not ancient, it all you young whipper snappers thinking after 29 retirement is looming.

As for tired, the theming of DF is weathering badly. then there is the escapee from Bob the builder land resting under Rita launch track.
The depth of colouring on nemesis theming has dropped. the shades of red have gone some area, gaps in the theming covers as the 21 year old material gives in to the weather

I noticed that the Nemesis station felt grubby inside. The retracting floor is so worn the metal pattern is completely smooth in places. The water was not coloured. The first 2 sections of Duel still have no targets and the revolving tunnel effect was completely dark and unlit. One of the ascending lifts in Sub-Terra was not working so we were led out of a fire exit which bypasses the scare maze and ruins the effect of being underground.
Gloomy Forest is the worst area though. The scaffolding on Rita and the re-theming have somewhat killed the excitement I used to have about that ride. It has never fit into that area but the first "Thunder rock rally" theme was much better. At least it has rock 'n' roll music and shiny drag racing trains. Even the announcements were better, I noticed some other people going wtf? when they heard: "Hold on, you must escape." before the train launched.

Hmm, when exactly did Towers go down the pan? Was it a gradual heating of the water us lobsters are sitting in? Or was there one clear shark jumping moment? It must have been somewhere in the early-mid 2000's, surely? It seems so long ago now. There must be a whole generation of younger enthusiasts who will never understand what we mean when we talk about "The Magic".
