Damn straight I'll still ride, it's been weird going to the park and just seeing it sat there like a morose tangle of barbed wire. And x-sector is strange without the pounding music.

I miss the music more than anything else about the ride. Takes me back to opening day, sitting there for about three hours waiting for it to open to the public after all the competition winners had been on. First coaster I've followed from plans to opening so it has a special place in my heart.

I hope when it reopens we see the music back, and all the visual materials. Would be a shame for them to edit anything because of the crash.

On the subject of riding it again. I'm really looking forward to it opening, although I do admit it will feel very strange going on it for the first time since the crash.

Can't see everything coming back, especially the screens saying you will be marmalised and the voice as you leave the station saying "it's time to get corrected" and the syringe merchandise. Hoping for the music to return, but could the sanctuary music or the shop music be better for a while? In terms of theme, the smiler was the worst ride to have an accident on it because lots of the merch and the tag lines will be a pr disaster if the media were to catch on, and to be honest, some things may be disrespectful (syringe pens...).

Scissor lift in the pit but no work going on as of yet. No testing.
Hasn't that always been there?

Yeah will be interesting to see what they do with the theme of the ride when it reopens. They havent taken the Smiler face off the front of the cars they have been testing have they, so maybe that indicates the ride will still remain "The Smiler".....

Good point about not selling the syringe pens though, yeah, they wouldnt be very appropriate would they!

They sell (or used to sell) Th13teen syringe pens, I have one somewhere. Plus there was the whole thing in newspapers where there was a story of a dad or parent finding to their 'shock horror' their kid or whatever could buy a syringe pen at Alton Towers.

The syringe pens make more sense with The Smiler because of course we have The Inoculator on The Marmaliser, which is three massive syringes pointing at the track.

That's what I'm worried about. The theme being so stripped back it loses its identity. I'm not bothered about the merch (like syringe pens) as they can get rid of what they like with that and it won't impact on anything. But the videos, music and other little bits of theming (what little there is of it) works so well together, if any of that gets edited or removed I think they may as well completely redo the theme and start over.

Isn't the handle on the deluxe mug also a syringe.

I've just thought of something when you have said this.. Will the inoculator be there when the ride opens. I think the rest of the effects will be fine, but giant needles...not so much.

No

Did they ever have the "I survived the smiler" medals / trophies?
They would definitely have to go if they did!

I am sure AT have look though the merchandise and anything that will cause offence. The" i survived the smiler stuff " will be absent when the shop opens.
