Towers Loving Care

My concern with this development is that 2016 is most likely going to be a dreadful year for Towers in terms of attendance, no matter what they do to try and draw in visitors/improve the experience. I just worry that whoever it is that has decided to open up the purse strings for the TLC projects won't see any return on their investments and thus will be dissuaded from spending on maintenance projects in the future.
From what I've heard, The park is expecting it to be a quiet season and so this is planned accordingly.

If some people think that some (non-advertised) paint jobs and a few extra similar bits is a genius marketing strategy that will boost attendance figures then I worry about their understanding of, well, life.

That is not to say that I do not applaud them for the TLC that they are carrying out. It's more than I expected.

Didn't the park say that by Scarefest and fireworks gate figures had pretty much recovered? If they have a really quiet year, it'll be just as much to do with their business decisions as The Smiler accident, if not more.

No , Scarefest and Fireworks were the highest performing days of the season (no surprise). They didn't recover by then. They just had a few good days towards the end of the year. Which is good as it gives more of an incentive to improve the events and market them more.

Gate figures had not recovered by the end of last season. There were some busier days but not on the same levels as previous years. I expect 2016 to be a very quiet year at Towers.

:)

Don't know why people are moaning about the new Rita tunnel I think it will look much better once it's finished , the fencing looks like it's going to extend around the launch area so it should look way way way better than the old scaffold.

Team TLC have popped into CBeebies Land to "rebuild" the Octonauts station, "including improved finishes & new lighting".

Erm... I know it's a work in progress, but other than the new lighting, I don't actually see any other differences.

And still no sign of a roof!

The main entrance sign (as you drive into the park) needs major work/replacing hopefully

Did you lot not see the state of Octonauts by November?

Open your bleedin' eyes. The job done for last year by the contractors was appalling! It was falling apart!

Also Josh - I agree, the road entrance signs are badly faded.

It looks just as bland minus the slight dilapidation. There's no heart or soul to the station and this doesn't seem to be improving on that.

So if this really is a 3 year plan, what do we honestly expect them to focus on next year and the year after?

I am hopeful that Dark Forest may receive a much bigger improvement program next year along with the completion of the Nemmy station work.
Seeing how much they are attempting to do this closed season, there may not be many areas that aren't touched by the 2019 season!

There is not a budget to re-theme and develop the entire park. I wish there was, but there isn't money to spend on lavish re-theme projects.

Last year it was bland and rotting. Be glad it's just bland now.

Small steps.

I certainly recognise the budget won't stretch as far over one year, but Octonaut's station has always been and seemingly remains totally soulless.

It's a children's roller coaster and yet the station is as appealing as Ian Watkins' jail cell. We shouldn't have to settle for "it's just bland now", it's that type of thinking that lets the ultimate powers above settle for the results that become the final product, even if the people in the middle as well as us want and expect far better.

I guess. I am totally in agreement that the station is bland and boring. But I guess right now, I am grateful for whatever is being done.

It's quite funny that they're advertising a complete rebuild of a station that is less than a year old. It doesn't really say much for the original build quality!

I wouldn't especially call it 'advertising'. This is hardly mass media or mainstream. They are only really running the TLC page for enthusiasts, who know full well the station was falling apart last year.

:)
