Phantasialand: General Discussion

This image of the current queue (taken from Theme Park Worldwide's Facebook page) is awful. I really hope it isn't a cattle pen like that permanently :mask::coldsweat:

It would be such a shame for them to create something so stunning and then have this as a permanent queue line.

Indeed, that is just an extension and the main queue is themed (although I've seen no photos yet) but it still looks like a nightmare!

EDIT:

Got to say, all of the reviews and comments I have seen so far have been extremely promising. Lots saying that it rides better than the POV with plenty of airtime and amazing direction changes.

:)

Personally, I'm very impressed by the POV. It looks much more intense and fast paced than I expected. The way it weaves its way through the scenery really enhances the sense of speed. It has some very snappy transitions and some tight, forceful looking turns.

Not every coaster has to be all about airtime. In any case, it looks like there are two or three decent pops of air so I'm not sure why people are complaining, particularly when we've known the layout for months.

I think my only real "gripe" is that the first launch isn't a rolling one like the second launch! :p

I see your point, but I guess this way there is a bit more variety. Also, you have to admit that pausing before a launch builds more tension.

I'm a fan of the rolling launch, the first half seems more gentle than the first, but the drop into the rolling launch is a nice way to step things up a gear for the second half.

I'm now planning a trip around europe after seeing this and how great EP is. The rolling launch looks pretty damn fast.

Those images at night look stunning, the lighting of the buildings make it feel incredibly intimate. The lighting around the ride looks great as well, both the pits and the rocks.

As for the ride/rides, they both look like great fun. Well done phantasia land.

Good news, as expected you can purchase a CD of the Klugheim soundtrack at the park:

In true Phantasialand fashion, the rest of the merch that I have seen looks utterly crap!

:)

Like to confirm that anyone who looks at the pov and thinks there'll be no airtime shows how you simply cannot judge a ride from one...

The first airtime hill after the initial launch and swooping turn pretty much tries to see if it can fling you into River Quest...

It's a relentless ride, perhaps too much so as there's no real rest bite from it, which does make it slightly all blur into one... But that really is the only negative of it... The trains are fantastic, 4 of them means a fast moving queue (the extension closed later in the day, a full queue was around 35 minutes at that point) and the second launch is brilliant...

A real effort from Phantasialand...

I like how in his interview, he said "this is exactly the kind of ride I like to build in my game!"
I like to think he has seen Blithering Lodge and is talking about Gaol Break. ;)

I wish he would return and give us an updated RCT. Same style and feel. I much prefer RCT2 and Transport Tycoon to any of the later stuff.

Can't wait for Phantasialand next week. I've never been so will be a completely new experience! Bring on the coasters!!

So having now spent the day riding Taron I have to say, any reviews made first thing in the morning should be taken with a little pinch of salt.

In the morning it's all good fun, but by afternoon when it has warmed up it shows its true colours.

The ride packs a serious punch, and at several points really does live up to the term 'ejector'. The airtime hills are fantastic, but it's the tight curving dives which are the real ace up the sleeve. At many points your entire body is out of the seat, pressed firmly into the lapbar and nothing else (and I will say the lapbars are very well done! Comfy but minimalist).

The ride seems to be the opposite of a lot of rides, which can often die out towards the end. The first launch is great, and the first couple of manoeuvres open the ride a treat. Then, in the run up to the second launch it softens up a little. At first, I thought this was a bad thing, but it certainly isn't. It just makes the second half even more intense!

The second launch really kicks hard, and after launching you up the beautiful waterfall, normal service is resumed, with plenty more ejector moments!

The trims at the end, whilst dynamic like The Smiler, do hit hard. However, the final airtime hill after it still packs a decent pop, and the brake run is still very harsh. The trims are certainly needed, and so close to the end, there is little impact to the overall ride.

The queueline out the back is certainly temporary, but it actually wasn't used very much yesterday. Out of 7 rides I think we only went through it twice. The main queue is perfectly acceptable, and it moves pretty fast. There appears to already be provision for a QuickPass line to be added, with another opening present in the SRQ, which is closed off at the moment. However, so far the queue hasn't bothered me. The longest we waited was about 35-45 minutes, but given the queue moves more or less constantly you don't really notice it.

All in all a great addition to the park's lineup, and it delivers a great thrill. I don't think it's top 3 for me (personally it doesn't topple Monster and EGF), but I think it's probably top 10 :)

What's Phantasialand arrangement with bags, do they have lockers you have to put them in while you go on rides? Or do they have baggage holds on each ride?
