Pleased to see the reopening of Hex is looking popular :)

Wow that's the longest Hex queue I've ever seen! Glad to see people are so excited to get back on it!

I'm hearing reports that the Smiler is down all day, and Alton Towers aren't really informing people about that.

In other news, a lady on their Facebook page was moaning that she couldn't find height information for the Flume or Charlie...I didn't have the heart to reply to that.

There is nothing to do. Come to the rollercoaster restaurant already in the hope that by the time we are out of here things will be up and running.

Well, at least theyve got more money out of us.

Given they had the military and the John Lewis hire days they had plenty of time to make sure the rides are tested.....

The fact theyre referring to the closure of rides on Twitter as being due to "ongoing maintenance program" doesnt really do them any favours. Ongoing maintenance in a theme park js fine. Just not closing headline attractions during opening hours to do so.

Here now. Bit of shame smiler is down. Was looking forward to riding it.

Will be back though hopefully not soon. Anyone else a bit miffed about lack of vr on galactica? I admit it isn't well received but I haven't experienced it yet.

This was guest services when I was leaving at around 11.50 a.m:

No idea if they were all moaning about how busy the place was, the headline ride being out of action or trying to get their children priority wristbands because they had a peanut allergy a few years back, or what.

A poor poor showing from Towers for a start to a new season. If you're going to close loads of attractions, at least make sure that your surviving rides are ready to go when the park opens, or at least open at all (Smiler). Also, why the fudge were the Towers ruins not open, again? OK, so I could have just slipped down the side of the barrier in the conservatory, but I didn't want to be a d**k about it, as the barrier clearly symbolised that the public were not welcome in there. Half of it is probably still boarded up anyway, so I'm not that desperate to get in there.

On the other hand, very busy morning to be fair. Lots of queues I couldn't be bothered to wait in everywhere! Probably shouldn't have broken my 'Never go on a Saturday' rule to be fair, but I didn't think it would be that busy.

On the whole, what a load of old s**t!

Well, the weather should be decent again, so that's a plus. Maybe it won't be quite as busy as it's Mothers Day? Depends how bothered you are about queueing? I won't really queue for much at AT these days as, like many others, I've ridden them so much over the years that I can't justify wasting the time standing around. If you rarely visit and will love the rides then yeah, go, for sure. Just be aware that people have been told (including myself) that The Smiler could be out of action for a few days. If that's going to seriously ruin your day, then maybe think twice about it :)

I go a lot and was also planning a cheeky day trip on Tuesday to get max rides in ... might drop by early tomorrow to get my Nemmy fix and then just see how it goes :) i have a feeling that it being Mothers Day might mean it's a bit quieter tomorrow!
Cheers

I've known sunny Mothering Sundays to be very busy in the past.
First mild sunny weekend of the year for all those season pass holders as well...
I'd go on Tuesday with no queues at all, not even got the Sun reader vouchers yet.
