Funny things you've overheard people say in queuelines

Overheard at towers recently while waiting for the bus home... "I didn't go on nemesis, I thought it was too similar to Galatica..." At which points his friends all told him it wasn't.

That's like my friends saying Air is the best ride on park and Smiler is just Nemesis on steroids.

I heard someone today getting off Nemesis saying "that ones good but it's got nothing on the one at Thorpe park" which astonished me and everyone I was with.

Don't know if it has anything to do with the possibility ghost train opening, but on Saturday there seemed to be quite a few enthusiasts at thorpe (not in groups or anything, but you can tell when people start taking about intamin vs B&M that they're not your average thorpe guest. Normally, this wouldn't be anything funny, but one conversation I heard was good. I had just been talking to my dad about the ages of rides and manufacturers, and it became obvious the man stood in front had been listening to us, as a few minutes later he turned to his girlfriend and pretty much quoted me word for word trying to impress her.

Not in a queue, but at home. Was sat on my laptop on Eftelings facebook page. My sister was looking over my shoulder and goes 'who's Ethelting' (pronounced like that anyway) turned out she thought it was a person o_O

*blows dust*
Sorry to bump an old thread, but when I was at SeaWorld Orlando last August, I overheard someone asking what Mako was called. Someone else replied "It's called "The tallest, fastest and longest in Orlando Feel the predator power. Very long name that". :banghead:

Last year I was in a queueline with a group and the subject got onto the excellent Galactica soundtrack. I said bits of of it sounded like Gravity. Before I had time to follow that with "I mean music from the film Gravity", one of my group said "How do you know what gravity sounds like?" :banghead:

One day, I was at Alton towers, I was walking round the queue of duel when, I encountered 2 chavs.

While I can't remember the exact words, it went something like this

Chav 1- "Dis ride is haunted innit"
Chav 2- "no it isn't innit"
Chav 1- "yea it is innit. wen day built the ride innit, one of the people got ran over by the ride and died innit. And now dat person appears in the car and kills ya innit!

(May or may not be exact wording)

They ran ahead while I was examining theming, so I missed the rest of that conversion.

When I got to the station, the staff directed me to the back of the chavs car, I climbed in as they were fiddling with their phone, so I don't think they realised I was there.
When we got to the photo point, I pulled the sleeves of my black coat over my hands and put my hood over my head, to pose for a picture.

Upon arriving at the station, the chavs took off down the hall. when I got to the pisolve desk, they were just standing there deathly quiet, looked at each other, then power walked out the shop, never to be seen again!

I have naturally adopted this as my default duel pose ever since.

@Britford good story!

Sounds like the two I had to share a rapids boat with earlier in the season. Or perhaps not, I figure those two would have spat at the zombies rather than blasted them.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but just wanted to contribute with two absolute gems I overheard at Thorpe a couple of weeks ago:
  • *Stealth's anti rollback dogs lower ready to launch* "That is the sound of unhappiness".
  • One of the people me and my sister were sat in front of on Flying Fish said "out of all the rides here themed to death and destruction, I bet the real killer will be the Flying Fish".

A guy in the Ghost Train queue at Blackpool yesterday complaining that entrance security had confiscated his tobacco tin containing his spliffs even though he’d protested he wasn’t going to smoke them in the park.

On the same theme there was a lad in the Icon queue with a cannabis leave tattooed on his cheek. Couldn’t help but think it won’t get him far in life.

A cannabis leaf on his cheek? I...Just...Why?
I tried to imagine what his normal looking girlfriend’s parents thought when she first introduced him to them.

Yesterday was also my first time in seeing the phenomenon of the King and Queen matching hoodies which I’m guessing is the latest fashion trend?

Standing in the queue line for Oblivion yesterday - "this is what made Alton Towers." Oh dear.
