The Public Transport Thread

We actually gave the monorail a miss and walked last time, the queue time was longer than the time it took to walk
We've skipped the monorail the last couple of times we've been to Alton. It's very rare for us to take the monorail to the park nowadays.

After all I ended up taking a taxi, we met two people outside the station who were also going to Alton Towers. Was a bit more expensive but we got there for opening and less time waiting for a bus at the end.

That's the method I would recommend. If not, the X32 bus leaves from opposite Stoke-on-Trent station

We caught the train from Coventry to Derby as it was half the price of going to stoke on Trent. We then caught the x52 which should be renamed the Wicker man express as it was a white knuckle ride in itself. The driver took out several small bushes trying to pull in at Derby

Was it a £10 return from there as well?

Also was it a 5pm closing? Otherwise you must have been waiting a long time to catch the bus :(
It's a £12 Adult return from derby.
Regardless of when the park closes the bus leaves 17:30. That even applies on 16:00 closure days.
