The Public Transport Thread

It wouldn't be so bad if the bus times were better. I would have to get two trains then a bus to Towers.

Yes I don't understand why the bus can't leave at nine and then maybe at sixish
Since the park closing times change. The day I was at Towers the park closed at four, so the bus back to stoke was already an hour after closing. And maybe the bus company thinks people don't want to leave Stoke earlier than 9:30 am?

What we really need is a shuttle bus running throughout the day, however clearly the bus companies have decided that it's not economical :(

I agree. Something you have to book online so they know numbers etc

May I suggest if you are planning to get a taxi and wish to ask other members to share taxi costs that you use the dedicated trip reports and plans forum to discuss your plans and not this thread.
Please also remember that there will be no trains from Derby to Uttoxeter and a reduced service on all other lines through Derby from 22nd July to 7th October

Checking the train line app the train that gets us in to derby at 9am is still running on the 6th September.

Don't get me started on Beeching cuts :mad:

I hate to be that person but... with all the parking charges why can't Alton Towers subsidise a bus? For the environment and all that.
Funny you should say that. The original excuse for the parking charge was that it was to fund the now legendary "Alton bypass".

At the TT@10 event many moons ago, I took the oppertunity to raise the question "what's the deal with the bypass, and where is the car park money going if not on that?"

The gibbon in a suit point blank refused to answer me.
