I wish there was a maybe...
I've rode it over 50 times and the only time I get jolted is the 13th inversion from right to left is a little rough but the rest of the rig is fine compared to other rides (ie wild mouse (rip) that was about the Same as the 13th inversion

I've now added maybe as a poll option!

The Smiler isn't "rough" at all but it does have it's quirks like all coasters! It's well documented jolt on the cobra roll doesn't bother me anymore as i know its coming :) the ride experience varies between trains and the back row on one of the trains brings a bizarre vibration to the party (hexagonal wheels anyone?)

If you want to experience rough pop along to BPB and ride the back row of the Nash in the rain :p everything is relative :D

My son came off smiler. He said it was rough and he felt ill afterwards. Then he had a mini panic attack as we went back on Oblivian saying he couldn't breathe his restraint wasn't right. He didn't want to ride anything else after that.

If you are finding rides rough, then that is more down to with how you are riding it. You are moving your body against the ride as oppose to with it.

One could argue that you should not have to have a technique to ride a rollercoaster, and if you do then said coaster is not doing what it should. Something like Nemesis, Helix or Maverick for example, I can just sit then and let the ride whiz me around. Other coasters do indeed need to be ridden in certain waits, especially woodies.

Is The Smiler rough? Well it's not smooth, yet it's not rough like many other coasters are. It does have some bad jolts and I would not call it overly enjoyable.

:)

I took a friend on who finds nemmie too rough and intense and they loved it. I think in that context the jolts bother us as enthusiasts but as a whole it is a pretty smooth ride.

I don’t know why people rate this ride so highly. Gerstlauer track develops horrible jolts after several years. I’ve never experienced a jolt on Nemesis to this day. Strangely Saw the ride is smoother in the rain, I can’t say I’ve done the Smiler in the rain yet so I can’t say if they’re both better in the rain or not.

I think what's been said is true. Its more rattly than out right rough which can cause its own issues. I personally don't care for it very much at all and would have it bottom in my list of Tower's bigger coasters. You certainly come off feeling a bit dazed and dizzy which I guess is the point but its not my cup of tea.

Agree with sentiment on the 12th inversion but wouldn't say it's rough just abit rattly at times.
By comparison, personally its like a Rolls Royce compared to the likes of Furious baco
