2019: Scandinavia & Snorri Touren

It does look good – a step up from the original facade, but still keeps the general look and character of the old. Perfect! :)

I'm glad the animatronic parrot is back. I was terribly anxious that the one singular BIRD's removal was going to break Piraten v2 for me.

Does anyone know where the Piraten in Batavia boats have been moved to?
To the Pirate graveyard in the sky!

Anyways, the new facade has the great combination of resembling the original but also featuring some enhancements too. I like the look of the new window.

Sounds like the ride will feature newer and more sophisticated animatronics and screen/projection effects. If they put their mind to it, version two could be something spectacular!

The absence of the burning town is a shame, but understandable given how the original ended up. Fingers crossed an equally impressive substitute can be delivered, amongst plenty of fire protection.

That's not exactly hard for some of them tbh. When I was a kid I build a Technic Lego armature to go inside a glove puppet that had better range and fluidity of movement than some of those old 80's EP animatronics! :p

The park have now posted the full image from their newsletter in HQ on Facebook:

"We are so excited to show you the very first artwork of the new Pirates in Batavia ride!

The themeing of the orginal attraction will be kept and we'll add some of the latest technology to make it an even more fascinating experience for the whole family.

The mad thing from when I visited in October is if I hadn't known about the fire from the news and this forum on park it was like nothing has occurred whatsoever. Was only from the euro tower and euro mir you could see the full extent of the area in question.

A few pics posted on Twitter by Michael Mack, mainly showing close ups of the reconstruction of the Fjord Rafting tunnel, but also a cool overhead shot of the winter activities taking place on the lake whilst the reconstruction continues. :)

Great to see. I expect the rapids will reopen with the tunnel for the 2019 Summer Season then.

Do we still expect Scandinavia to be open by mid-summer? 6 months is not a long time to rebuild an area with such intricate detail.

Construction of Scandinavia seems to be further ahead than construction of Ireland was at this point over the 2015/16 winter season. Scandinavia is probably a more complex build, but I would expect it to be ready for around late June/July time. They'll be putting in a huge amount of resources to the project.
