I think every time nemesis goes down for a while they barricade it off with numerous members of staff guarding it so I don’t believe that is out of the ordinary. Last time that happened when I was there, it was open later on that day.

So they can put in conditions of entry that they can take photos of you, but they don't want people to take photos of a broken down ride!
Yep T&C’s only work in their favour. Said T&C’s also state photos & videos are for personal use, and you aren’t supposed to photograph / video people without consent yet never heard of them pulling all the vlogs down from YouTube

That is interesting when I was walking to the park enterance yesterday a crane was working over nemisis and it was out of action until after lunch. Strange it's happening again today what's up?

On another note had a good day on park yesterday but annoying that guys working at merge points kept inflating the queues by holding everyone whille they waited for ages for fast track guests. Happened on nemisis, Galactica and the smiler. Once past them it was literally walk on. I also had to laugh a fast track couple were walking in the parallel queue path up to oblivion waving their fast track tickets in the air and it was walk on and my son and I were in front of them getting on train. £10 well spent.

I was thinking driving home what Verney and his palls would do if driving along and someone jumped out from the path and stopped him saying I know you pay your road tax but these guys paid exta for fast track so wait an extra 30 mins whille we let them in front of you. Or in a restaurant everyone got served quicker because they paid extra.

I suspect the reason is so it doesn't get leaked to the press. The last thing they want is a picture of Nemesis with a crane etc and all the associated "Alton Towers is not safe, I value my limbs" crap that many people believe right on their most busiest time of the season.

It's their property, so their rules I guess. You can take all the photos you want in public places though, as long as you're not being creepy!

Edit: not sure if this post was clear. I was trying to say since it's not a public place, their rules

What happens if word gets out to the mirror that a crane is visiting nemesis each morning before it is opening late. A visit from sky news and francis will come out of his office.

Not sure if it's relevant to the late opening the past couple of days but there a very noticeable hissing sound in the station above the train when the harnesses are released until they are locked. Something I've not heard from Nemmy over 24 years

Well no, it's private property - By entering it, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions imposed.

Yeah it's not even private property with public access like Epsom Downs and the Royal Parks are, it's private property period, their house, their rules.

A hissing sound in the above curcumstances above would most likely be an air-leak on the compressed air line. Compressed air is used to drive the 4 rams that each release two rows of harnesses - if the hissing is only when the harnesses are released until they are locked, then some air is probably leaking. Completely harmless and 100% safe.

The worst thing that could happen is the air-line fails and the harnesses cannot be opened automatically by the ride system in the station. Rest assured, there is a manual over-ride on each row that takes a matter of seconds to unlock the harnesses on each row - riders would be "trapped" for all of a minute or two even if on the last row to be manually unlocked. (The ride would doubtless then be taken down to fix the air-line leak, but there is no danger to guests).

Hi, new to this forum so if this is supposed to go elsewhere please feel free to move it

Just a quick overview of my trip yesterday... First think I’m going to mention is how many times I saw roaming actors, was pleasantly surprised after reading this forum as to how many times we saw them; it seemed that if you stay mostly around the enterance and the towers area you get way more interaction than other areas (expecially forbidden valley).

Secondly, i had the best ride on smiler I’ve had I a long time today, front row, generally smooth apart from the first inversion after first lift which has an almighty kink! And the last two are getting worse! Would love to see that ride with lap bars one day, but UK public wouldn’t take that well!

Wickerman was amazing, asked for a back row seat and the guy batching was happy to help Was in the dusk and looked amazing, but honestly didn’t notice the fire or pay any attention to the structure because of how wild it was running! My first back row seat and it did not disappoint!.

Few other things to add. So glad Nemsis opened, absolute beast in the day yet alone the dark. Enjoyed a ride on Rita for my first time for a while (we did queue front row and didn’t bang my head once) and towers are in desperate need of some flats and I don’t think the dungeons will solve many issues ( pay as you got attractions aren’t a good idea for towers).

Hope you all enjoyed reading my first trip review.

How are the queues on the late night openings? I'd love to experience the roller coasters in the dark, and I'm happy to skip the scare mazes for more rides. I'll definitely look into going next year
