The Public Transport Thread

Did you include bus fares?
Should have also mentioned I meant weekends

For towers a taxi is required, a "train" to Uttoxeter return with 16-25 Railcard is £5 and taxi is £40 so £45 total.

This weekend isn't the best for train fares, but going from derby to staines by train without splitting is £38.40 and £3.70 return for the 950 so £42.10, a small saving but still a saving.

Depending on the derby station works it's sometimes possible to get split tickets totaling about £35 with the same 950 bus@£3.70.

Any chance anyone here would be interested in a minibus group hire from somewhere like derby or Uttoxeter?

I'm bored studying so I'm looking at theme parks online again

In the UK at least I've got all the "low hanging fruit" so to speak, I think the only easy accessible park left for me is Chessington.

Reason for posting is: I'm thinking of a way to get to Oakwood. From Aberdeenshire it's four trains and over a day of traveling so not feasible. :( I suppose I'm here to ask, anyone traveled to Oakwood on public transport before? Which city did you come from? It just seems to take ages to get there from any major city. I'm looking for other parks I can combine it with

Have you thought about flying by plane?

For 2019 there is a slight improvement in the buses from Stoke to the park, the buses will run Easter weekend, May Day bank holiday weekend and then June-August.

There is also a return bus from the park to Stoke at 10.50 each morning for anyone who has stayed over night and wants to return in the morning.

It’s still a pretty poor service but any progress is good I guess.

There are still no buses from Uttoxeter and only weekday buses from Notts/Derby. Despite what Alton Towers are telling their customers on twitter.

And people wonder why I'm saving up to buy an ebike to cycle from derby to towers...
