Chessington World of Adventures Resort

you're not going to pay for Fast Track you can't expect them to just leave you in peace to queue for two hours. Of course they're going to try and flog you some head lice cream while you're waitin

Given the average age of Chesington clientele, head lice cream is probably essential treatment after being stuck in one of thone cattle pens for two hours. They're merely doing the leg work for you LOL

The lodges themselves look nice. However I’m disappointed (but not surprised!) that all the previously planned facilities have been cut from the plans. Merlin will always do the bare minimum they can get away with, and this development just proves it. First Alton had their lodges expansion scaled back to the garden sheds with no facilities whatsoever that we are now getting, and now Chessington are seeing their project cut back in a similar way...

:(

In what planet are they on where they believe that they can keep building accommodation without the facilities to match it!

It’s all very well constantly expanding the choices to stay in (and those lodges do look nice) but it’s absolutely pointless when they end up pushing the current facilities to breaking point! It’s fine during off peak but at busy times you’re going to make people annoyed - and that’s when people are paying hideous amounts of money to stay!

The thing is I’ve always thought the resorts should look to build a Center parcs Style activity and resort offering along side the parcs - AT certainly has the space and chessie could do a smaller version - missing a trick

Merlin are clearly testing the elasticity in what people will tolerate. Not only does the lack of facilities effect the new accommodation, it will clearly also have a significant impact on the existing accommodation. They already use one reception for two hotels. Imagine trying to check-in after another batch of rooms is added.

The reality is that Merlin just do not truly care for guest experience as long as they can continue to massage their KPIs. They continue to show a flagrant disregard for providing a truly good product and service, relying instead on the captive audience that their resort theme parks provide.

I do wonder what the point of breaking is. Can they continue to charge a premium for these low quality developments? When will it start to impact repeat custom? It’s only then that I can see any chance of a shift from this short term strategy.

Ahhhhh, so they've seen how well the lack of eating and drinking establishments has worked at Alton Towers do have decided to implement the same strategy at Chessington.

Excellent!

Yes a waterpark would actually be a smart addition at Chessington. As long as it doesn’t result in the demolition of any more of the actual theme park.

Vampire really is in a mess isn't it, the station looks and sounds awful, none of the animations or lighting effects working and the state of the ride itself... wow.

Also Aldi adverts playing in the queueline... REALLY?

This video isn't even when it was at its best, but the difference in how the soundtrack sounds there and now is massive.

The original audio track has been put back this season and will be improved further between now and main season.

Unfortunately it's not the full original set up with the crypt audio and zoned effect from the ride's opening, but is the same as in that mobile phone clip above. Good riddance to the horrible tinny recording that was being used by mistake the last few years!

Very sad what happened to the best coaster station in the country. Hoping the same doesn't happen to Wicker Man's station and preshow.

Unfortunately there’s not much in Merlin’s track record which would suggest anything but a consistent neglect in maintenance of themeing elements and a slow decline in quality from the original installation, to leave a shell of any of the original attraction’s glory.

We can then expect to be treated to a low budget, ham-fisted refurbishment.
