Thanks burbs...I would have used the spoiler function for a picture....in this case I thought it`s okay to post it like this because the thumbnail alone is not giving away too much I guess :)

Indeed, though some people don't like to see anything at all, so always worth using if you're unsure. :)

The Europa-Park novelties video is one of the highlights of the year! Once again they have not let us down with what seems like an endless list of additions across the park.

Madame Whatshertits clearly did not need anything else adding to it, yet they have done. Incredible!

Of all the rides that have new theming, MFC is the one I'm most curious about. I can see the need for it in Jim Knopf somewhat, particularly towards the end, but anything which makes MFC more charming is fine by me (so long as they don't take the Geisterschloss approach of 'just chuck whatever in and hope it doesn't make it any worse').

I highly doubt that they will go the Geisterschloss-route...the team that is/was responsible for MFC theming absolutely knew what they`re doing...the scenes that were already added during the last season fittet so perfectly to the rest of the theming...I at least have full trust in them making it even nicer :)

I think I saw someone ask about the EPFans annual park update with all the changes for the new season. Well, here it is: https://epfans.info/?id=4979&lang=&PHPSESSID=74a10419b70698ce8951116cd97d134c

I just came across this lovely little documentary by German TV show Galileo, heavily featuring Roland as he goes about his business on park and getting a cheeky ride on Blue Fire. Also, a lot of stock footage.

I've been taking a look at some of the menus for the hotel restaurants and there appear to be quite a few changes for 2019. However one has stood out to me and it regards a TowersStreet favourite - Ranger's Best at Silver Lake Saloon. It appears that it no longer comes with the legendary baked beans, and bacon has been replaced by chorizo.

I can cope with the chorizo but do hope that the lack of baked beans on the menu is just a mistake!

I am sure some of the group had Rangers Best the other week. I don't recall noticing a change...

I've been taking a look at some of the menus for the hotel restaurants and there appear to be quite a few changes for 2019.

I've found the hotel menu choices to be lacking in comparison to the park menus in the last 3 years; the a la carte menus were always a bit limited for patrons who don't eat meat but it's become more prevalent this season.

For example, with Silver Lake the other week, they and Schloss Balthasar now have the same vegetarian option* being charged at the same price this year. That's not good value when you consider SLS is meant to be the second cheapest resort option and SB to be the higher end park option for food.

I’ve always said that EP’s food options are rarely good value, despite claims to the contrary. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not Disney level stupid, but they are spendy in general.

I find Schloss Balthasar is actually one of the better value venues considering the food quality, setting and service. However, the same can’t be said for places like Bodega, whose food I find very ordinary. The hotel offerings are almost universally overpriced, even though the quality is respectable. €20 minimum for a burger and fries is just too much, as are the €30+ buffets, which I find don’t quite justify their price (for example, the buffet at Ling Bao is considerably better quality).

There’s a reason why there’s always a queue for the pizzeria and it’s because it’s the only outlet where you can have a decent meal and escape for under €20 per person.

It’s a shame also to hear that there appears to have been some rationalising of the menus, as the higher prices were always offset somewhat by that feeling of diversity.

Perhaps the fact €1 = £0.89 today rather than £0.65 15 years ago has something to do with it. With Brexit too, the pound has lost value making trips 10% more expensive than pre-Brexit prices.

The buffet prices I cant fault. They're very good quality and only 25% more than the likes of Flambos. They work out about £28. Hell, I paid the equivalent of £23 for some bilge buffet at PA and more at DLP!

That said it's easy to spend money at EP.

Regards rationalizing of menus, I've noticed nothing of the like with exception to the veggie options Rowe refers to. On that note, I would drop an email in.
