Paultons Park: General Discussion

Looks like this is going to be a great new area for the park! Anyone able to tell from that concept whether it is a custom or standard Mack Spinning Coaster layout?

Excellent, unique to Europe then at least. Here is a high-res version of the concept from Twitter:

It's great to see quality investment in the UK theme park industry and a whole new area at that. Shame no other company have anything close to this scale planned for the 2020 season... In fact merlin don't seem to have any plans at all...

Flamingo Land has got a fairly large investment planned in the form of Inversion (will this be the name?). Besides, it's early for 2020 investments to be announced yet!

Oops forgot about Mingo Land....

Would we not have seen planning go in for anything major by now? e.g. Anything that changes sight lines significantly or will make noise. That makes me suspect merlin have nothing bigger than a Retheme in the pipeline

Without wanting to drag this off topic, it all depends on permitted development rights. The Smiler as a coaster (track and train) for example would not have actually required planning permission.

Anyway, back on topic. Having a think about it, Paultons Park will easily have the best line-up of family coasters from next year. A Mack Spinner, Vekoma Family Inverted Coaster, Vekoma Junior Boomerang and Gerstlauer Bobsled.

Fully agree, could see some massive growth in park size and visitor numbers with a line up like that. I will definitely be visiting for the first time next year to try out the coaster

I think their next big investment needs to a huge family water ride, ideally with incredible theming. That could be a rapids, flume or even a Shoot the Chute style ride. Paultons typically get the best weather of any UK Park so they really need to take advantage of that fact.

The log flume they have at the park now isn't the best and it's basically not much better than a travelling flume ride. Would be great to see a flume ride installed of the quality of the Viking Voyage that Tayto park recently installed. I think that would be an absolute gem of a ride for PP.

^ I agree with the above, a decent water ride is needed now. A Rapids ride would be ideal!

Loving this new coaster that'll be coming in, really will be a good solid addition to the park. The area will be well themed (for the park at least!) and a good investment - definitely a park to watch now.

And with it being about 20/25 mins down the road from me, I'm sure to make a visit or two next year! ;)

It’s a clone of Sierra Sidewinder which is a bit of a forgettable coaster experience but not a bad ride.

I agree that a water ride is very much needed. I know the park is still transitioning, but the log flume and the area around Cobra and Edge desperately need a face lift and hopefully they'll be next.

I'd be amazed if they haven't already earmarked that area for their next project tbh. There's so much they could do with it. They might even get away with leaving the existing rides in and just theming it all up nicely.

Would love a world class water ride added though like I said. I don't see the need to start adding 1.4m thrill coasters. It's just not their market.

Would love to see either a Mack aquacoaster like Journey to Atlantis or a modern intamin rapids with the raft lift like Infinity Falls at seaworld which is my current favorite (and wettest) rapids in the world

A Mack Powersplash on the lake would be a good fit too.

If I'm honest I'm a little disappointed it is a Sidewinder clone, because I thought it was pretty crap really. I suppose that is in comparison to all the wonderful and massive things at Knotts Berry, it should stand up better to Paultons other rides, will compliment them well as something a bit different and is suitable for their younger target market.

But still, I'm sure something a little more interesting could have be done with that kit which would still hit Paultons needs.
