Obscenely long amount of time for a retheme surely? 2 years? Even Disney could build a completely new coaster from scratch and theme it in that time.

As people have said, that’s Paris for you!

However I suspect they are planning on re-opening at the same time as the Spider-Man ride which is due to open 2021 also. Since RnRC sits at the back of the construction area it maybe wouldn’t be feasible to reopen it whilst still building Spider-Man.
 
It's Disney.

They spend a *shocking* amount of time to do even routine work.
 
To be fair they haven't been doing a right lot of routine work during the darker days in Paris. They're playing catch up.
 
I hope they take a good look at the retracking it and modifying the trains as well as just re-theming it. The ride quality was absolutely abysmal when we visited in 2017. I couldn't wait for it to end.

Really rough. Vekoma vest restraints needed at a minimum.
 
Odd. I've generally found both Vekoma loopers at DLP to be quite good for comfort relative to usual breed standards. Mind you, in this one's case (and unlike SMM2) it's probably helped by it being almost offensively dull. A retheme is fine but can only do so much; the layout is the issue here.

I view Xpress: Platform 13 at Walibi Holland with effectively the same layout with equal derision, so I'm not just being anti-Disney.
 
I never found RnRC rough, neither the ones in Florida or Paris due to its layout, and Paris' Space Mountain was rougher with the old trains.

From what I’d seen elsewhere it’d said that it’s one of the three news stories per shaft.

It’s still in essence The Twilight Zone, but sub-plots within it from what I can gather.

Yeah I was referring to the overall theme not changing. There will be minor changes per shaft. I don't think it will change the overall feel of the ride too much.
 
So there’s been a couple of interesting Paris and Disney related bits surface over the past few days.

Firstly, Catherine Powell, the previous head of Disneyland Paris who saw the park through its 25th celebrations and refurbishments has left Disney after 15 year. Changes at the top have led to her position as President of Disney Parks, Western Region (that is, overseeing Disneyland, Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris) being scrapped.

Also, in a somewhat bizarre move to me, Disneyland Paris is now part of the same group as Tokyo, Shanghai and Hong Kong, under the new banner of Disney Parks International, with Michael Colglazier overseeing things as President and Managing Director, Disney Parks International. It seems that the East and West divisions have been scrapped and head roles that came with them reshuffled.

Individual US resorts will now be reporting more directly into Bob Chapek now that he’s less engrossed in Fox it seems.

Same group as Tokyo.... lets kick of the DisneySea Paris 2030 rumours.
Doubtless that makes sense if you are sat in an office in the USA, trickier to understand if you are sat in Europe.
Catherine Powell did a good job in Paris. I bet the severance deal has a clause to stop her turning up at Universal.
