Disneyland Paris: General Discussion

Feel for them people but I go in two weeks so selfishly glad it's now and not when we go for our flying visit. Only having 2 days there this time so don't need anything like this to happen. Our first visit during Halloween season too albeit we go the week before the crazy mad half term week.
 
It would seem that Tower of Terror's new drop sequences have now opened, as I have a POV of one of them for you all:

This particular sequence is The Shaft Creatures, and it certainly seems as though they are going for a much scarier vibe than the original if this video is anything to go by! Interestingly, it also looks to bear almost no resemblance to the previous Twilight Zone iteration apart from the old hotel scenery and the brief musical clip at the end; I'm not even sure if they've kept the license...

AFAIK most of the rides backstory is the same and the 3 new on-ride stories are just reasons the elevator vanished/what happened when it vanished. Some of the Twilight Zone series was scary/creepy and the little girl sings the theme music at the end. It's still very much Twilight Zone.

The music at the end alone confirms this is still under licence.

Mixing it up is fine and all, but having the starry night coming out of nowhere rather than fading into it from a scene will never be as impressive an effect.
 
This looks a bit daft, although I suppose it's fine for a seasonal overlay. The DLP iteration of TOT already has a fair amount of the suspense of the original version shaved off, but the way you start pinging up and down the lift shaft in this makes it look like some sort of haunted Frog Hopper.

Still, nice of the ghost girl to deliver some of her dialogue in both French and English, truly considerate spooking that prove Disney still have the edge when it comes to customer service. Even at DLP!

With regards to the bolded, I've heard other people say it's actually a permanent change and was just timed to open alongside the start of DLP's Halloween event.

Just had a brilliant 3 days at Disneyland.

Hightlights:

1. Phantom Manor being back open and as brilliant as ever

2. Few rides on the enhanced T.O.T were insane. The new improvements were amazing and the random drop sequences make for a much more thrilling ride.

3. My 5 year old son got to experience some big attractions for the first time including BTM, PM, HSM and more. He just scrapped it at 1.20m height on the dot. It was touch and go but he made it. Loved all of them.

4. Meet and greet with Jack Skellington. Absolutely hats off to the guy in the costume. He was brilliant with my little lad and made his day.

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea on here but I do love a Disney park. Think they need a new major attraction in the main park though to help with the queues. Very busy today.

Wow - we must have crossed paths I was also in the park yesterday and was majorly impressed with the quality and appearance of the park. My only concern was the amount of closed outlets and the slow speed of food service. I'm surprised by this as the park would make more money if ques were shorter.

Only downside is the organisation of McDonald's after the fireworks. What a joke... It's not like it's informal. But at least you get choice unlike Merlin parks.

I know the closure of RnRC doesn't help with the crowds but I think the Magic Kingdom park definitely needs more attractions. It's such a shame as I think the place is not utilising its full potential.

We did Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Weather not great Wednesday and Thursday morning but from Thursday afternoon onwards we've done well.

Did all the rides and meet and greets we wanted and probably a few extra bonuses. The Donald, Daisy and Scrooge all together was a real treat for my little lad.

Didn't rate the Halloween stage show one bit though. I know it's been widely criticized but my word that was horrendous. It was just Ursula introducing villains and that was the essence of it. Probably worst show I have seen at a Disney park actually.

Had a great time though.

I was in the park on Friday and we had some mixed weather! I did not do that show as it was quite french. Does Star tours have an English option?

It stopped raining by 10.30 on Friday and we didn't get to park till about then so it was kind to us. I imagine if you arrived for 8.30/9an you got soaked though.

It did last year. I think most rides do. I know I've had the English versions on the old version of Tower or Terror and the new version of Star Tours. It is just pure luck of the draw though as I've certainly had more French versions than English
 
The default language for ToT and Star Tours is French, however the cast member can switch it to English if they wish. If they know or think the lift or simulator in question is loaded with a majority of English speakers they can switch the language before dispatch.
 
Just back from a quick Christmas visit, landed 10am Saturday got to the park shortly after on the train, park open til 10, stayed at the 'Disney' BnB Hotel and flew home this morning. A couple of things...

I'd definitely recommend that particular accomodation. It was only £56 for the night with shuttle buses to and from the park gates every 10 minutes. Disney trips can be very pricey but this was a real bargain.

Hyper Space Mountain is 10 x better than I remember, it's absolutely brilliant from start to finish and it's incredibly smooth.

Big Thunder Mountain is surely the best mine train coaster in the world all things considered? Also we got evacuated from the final break run, one train away from a mid ride evacuation which would have been interesting.

Phantom Manor and Pirates remain my two favourite dark rides in Europe, both fantastic versions of classic attractions.

Indiana Jones is a terrible coaster and should be ripped down sharpish. It does nothing interesting and it's uncomfortable. Looks like glorified Rattlesnake.

The Christmas Tree lighting show is well worth a watch, all of Main Street is lit up in a 15 minute show. The parade was quite good but not really my thing tbh.

It's a far more pleasant park than Magic Kingdom, it's a lot more bearable when crowd levels are high. It's definitely a bit more 'moody' than any of the American parks where the customer service is unparalleled, but as I said on my last visit - we are lucky to have a park of this quality so close to home.

Never understood why they cannot sort out the speed of counter service at DLP.
They seem to spend a lot of time stood, waiting for the kitchen for a single order, rather than sorting out orders 2, 3 and 4s drinks, sides and deserts etc. 90% of the orders must be fairly predictable, burger, chips and a coke. Send Gordon Ramsey in there, and get them moving the orders efficiently.
 
Queues for Casey's Corner were spilling out the front door all day Saturday. Service is far too slow all over the park and it's especially annoying when you're paying so much for pretty average food.
