Fireworks 2019

I must admit, it's nice to see the park using Sir Algenon again; doesn't feel like we've seen anything of him in a good few years!

Also, I must admit I do have a soft spot for the cheesy "memories" stories!

No, but seriously, I agree. The cheesy stories are great.

I mean they're really not. They've done that one for the last few years. It's time for a new theme, it used to be a different one each year. That's something they really need to get back to.

These are a bit old now but here's a few images from the build up on Friday.

A wide angle view from the all important spot

I still don't think the pics do the size of this thing justice!

And finally, a view of the back of the stage showing the ramp up to it. That pretty much confirmed a live element for me even before it was mentioned in the press release

For those not on FaceyB, @AstroDan grabbed a few pics yesterday showing some lighting being rigged up and later tested:

Went to the fireworks for the first time in 2017 and absolutely loved it.

However, I wasn’t overly impressed with last years and it was so uncomfortably busy too, which meant it was absolute chaos.

Debating whether to bother this year or not.

Again, I do think that after having to pre-book it would be nice to have a hot drinks voucher or something similar in return.

Seems the Saturday has now sold out, though the rabbit sheds are now available for £168! They weren’t on last night but cbeebies was, must have sold out

The fireworks events have been capped at roughly 20,000 since 2017 following the dire 2016 weekend.

Last year's guest numbers wasn't dissimilar to 2017; did you go on the same day? Sunday is usually around 25% quieter.

Been on a Sunday both times, but last year was just so chaotic.

We’ve booked to go on the Friday this time as it works out better for us, so will see what that’s like.

Sir Algenon was used for the fireworks last year. The plot was people were trespassing at night and he popped up and told them all about the energy of the excitement left by the guests or something. When he got lit up at the top of the scaffold I remember most of the audience jumped.

On the crowds, we usually go on the Sunday so it’s a little quieter and the biggest thing I notice when watching the fireworks is a lot of guests don’t want to move down the lawn (maybe don’t want to get trainers muddy) so the back of the lawn and the paved areas seem incredibly packed, but closer to the lake it’s fine to watch the fireworks and we have enough space. After the fireworks it will be busy as everyone leaves or heads to a ride but there is no way to avoid it, just take your time and go wit the flow.

On Friday night, I will be stood in the freezing cold and pouring rain with my feet sinking into the mud to watch AT Ultimate Fireworks Spectacular 2019 and I can't wait. It will take more than good old blighty's rubbish weather to stop this old man. (Though the closed season till March will do it).

It's brilliant every year, but for me, they have never topped 2013' memories display.

Count me in for the back pain, sciatica, frostbite and pneumonia... I'm still young at heart! (Honest!)

Good luck to anyone on the grass parking this weekend. After this much rain fall it will be interesting to say the least!
