I was wondering how long it would be before they started running Icon on one train.

I didn’t see it on any less than two for it’s first two seasons.

Yes I agree, the ride dies for me after the first drop. The speed and intensity is fantastic but beyond that there are no forces and it's very rough. Looking forward to trying magnum Magnum this year to see what the big one had the potential to be

Magnum is in a different league tbf. It's much smoother, bit of a rattle but nothing like the Big One. Plus there's loads of air time.

I went to CP in 2018 for my first and only visit to date and I rode that more than any other coaster across the trip. The shorter queue perhaps played a part in that but I genuinely thought it was in top 3/4 coasters on the park and for a coaster of it's age and considering what they've spent since, that's some accolade.

Im amazed Icon gets up enough steam to generate the Mack rattle if Im honest.
I actually find the rattle more distracting than on helix (especially on the front) but then again I think helix probably has more interesting elements to keep my mind occupied :p

I must admit, the Big One grew on me when I rerode it in August last year; for some reason, even though it still is far from my favourite coaster, it didn't feel as rough as my 2018 rides, and the ride felt a bit faster! On my first ride of the day towards the front, I even greyed out slightly on the first drop!

However, I would definitely rate the Big One higher if it were smoother. The ride definitely still has its slightly rough patches that inhibit the enjoyment somewhat for me, even if the smoothness felt improved compared to my last visit.

Despite this, it's far from the roughest coaster in Blackpool; I would personally perhaps argue that Big Dipper and Grand National needed track work more than the Big One did, but I suppose the park has its reasons for doing Big One instead.

I don't mind the Dipper at all and don't find it rough for its age. Nash on the other hand is pretty bad. Its a very high frequency vibration roughness with the big one and I find it very quickly gives me a headache

Mack mega coasters are, from my experience, often quite rattley, yet still very smooth.

Storm at Etnaland was the worst offender for this, Icon is about an average level of Mack rattles, I find. :)

Quite rattley, yet still very smooth?
Is that not a complete contradiction, if it is quite rattly, it simply cannot be very smooth.
I don't think so. To me, rattle is a sound and smooth is how it feels?

I do find Icon's rattle interesting. It certainly is worse on one train over the others. The train I was on on Blue Fire had a similar rattle, but much quieter. They always seem to come from the rear of the train - it may be down to how the wheel assembly is constructed? Maybe a bit more movement in it. I am assuming they are different on the rear car as the seats and chassis is different (I think).
