London Entertainment Resort: All Discussion

Is anyone else seeing loads of news articles on social media etc about this project?

Its starting to sound pretty desperate to me. They clearly havent got the money required or anything close and are trying to raise awareness and interest. Wouldn't like to guess how much money has been wasted on this project.

The people in the local area have basically said that without huge investment to the road networks and public transport infrastructure this place wouldn't even get built even if they had the 3 to 4bn required. Gridlocked roads already out of control.

Sure I'd love to be proved wrong and for us to get a world class TP resort in the UK however I think there's about as much chance as Donald Trump being named man of the year.

This project is definitely more visible on social media now than it has been in the past, which is interesting. Not that I'm therefore giving it any more likelihood of happening.

Looking on social media there aren't many 'feel good' stories at the moment. Although I suppose it's good that the UK's death rate is declining and more things are re-opening, and it's good that there's rising awareness of racism and inequality. But on the whole social media's filled with pretty depressing stories. I can see that a story about a 'Disney' style theme park will jump out at people. In a sense it's doing what the theme park industry's supposed to do: provide escapsim. Except normally the parks have to get built first.

The press absolutely LOVE London Resort articles, and have done since the project was first announced. The simple reason is that if you compare anything to Disney, you're absolutely guaranteed a shedload of engagement from people on social media channels. It doesn't matter one ounce that nothing is new, the story gives the publication more visibility on social media and therefore a better chance of their other content being seen. Local newspapers in particular

Take a a look at some of the recent posts, taking note on the number of comments, likes and shares:

This was exactly the point I was trying to make in my last post. Last week's announcement doesn't give any new information whatsoever, it served one purpose which was to generate articles from the press. Those in turn can be used to show demand and excitement for the product to potential investors.

But surely any savvy investor would realise this project has been in the pipeline for 8(?) years with nothing to show for it? Even just a cursory background check would set off alarm bells. It's bordering on a Ponzi scheme at this point.

Yup, and that's the main problem now. The longer this is dragged out, the less attractive a proposition this becomes. The less attractive it is, the lower the quality of investor. And that lower quality of investor brings significantly shallower pockets.

Any worthwhile investor will be asking why so little progress in so long? Why so many management changes? Why so many changes to the plan? And most importantly, why isn't no one else putting their hands in their pocket?

All this just appears to be a desperate case of getting something, anything off the ground as they have some investors expecting a return. As they continue to burn through cash with no progress though, that seems less and less likely.

There's supposed to be an environmental report coming out on the 12th, so maybe we'll know more then?

Or they'll miss that too and nothing will happen for another 6 months until the manager's fuel card needs topping up.

We’ll have to keep our eyes peeled on Friday; we might discover a little more!

What is there to be positive about. It’s a lovely idea/dream but that’s all it will ever be or atleast just a nice hotel. It’s far far to ambitious to ever happen.

Let’s wait until tomorrow and see what gets released! That may provide a better idea of the company’s intentions, at least in the short term.

Nothing will change it will keeping going round it circles. They don’t own the land and have already spent 50mil on nothing. So what sort of sane person is going to plunge billions in to this? The clue is that nothing has happened for 8 years not even a sign. Jaysus even Wonderworld had a sign and nothing was built.

Out of interest, where would I look for this environmental consultation they’re supposed to have published? I did read one place saying that the aim is now “some time next week”, so I’m going to give them a little more time before I search.

The fact that it hadn't been published when they said it should have been , should given you an idea about the fantasy that is this project.

I saw in another place that they were aiming for next week, so maybe that’s the actual deadline.

There is actually an email address on the website. I could try emailing them and asking them about when the environmental assessment is due, but I fear that they might think I’m a spammer or some other person trying to cause trouble...

Nah, they'd use you as a case study for how popular this project is, and how many people are clamouring for information...
