Grime?

Knowing the way Merlin think; they'll be well aware of the state of The Smiler queue. They'll have looked at the cost of maintenance and then it won't be signed off because it won't make them any money.

There's been a steady lowering of guest expectations since the latter part of the Tussauds era, setting the bar so low that things such as the TLC project seem like an unexpected bonus.
The only way things will change is when customers will not accept the low standards offered by the Merlin parks and let their opinions known. Unfortunately, at the moment people generally seem to be all too willing to accept things for what they are and make do.
Would anybody want to work for a company that works it's employees into the ground for minimum wage?

Theyre losing staff across the resort at the moment.
Standards simply cannot improve without sufficient personnel.

Looking at the amount of grime in the Smiler queue line, I wonder if pressure washing will actually work, my pressure washer came Monday, It took me an hour just to clean my small patio with half the amount of grime as you can see on the smiler photo. Yep it did the job, my patio looks very nice and clean now, but when I looked up, it just shirted the dirt all up the side of the fence, my conservatory window and all over our ornate garden plants which ended up covered with black gunk

Looking at photos, Smiler looks appalling in terms of cleanliness. This coaster only opened seven years ago, you'd think that they'd look after it especially considering it's a "headline" attraction. Makes me want to rush and do it first when I go in September just so it doesn't look as depressing.

Or use a patio cleaner toolWise men use an old sheet of plywood as a shelter screen behind where they are washing!
That way the sheet gets the muck, not the plants.
An old tarp is good too.
Use an algaecide to save you repeating the job in a few months Roy.

Do you know how much the above attachment on its own cost?
Fortunately I got one included with the pressure washer that I purchased, I got a great deal, but as @rob666 say's it wasn't as effective as using the jet.

Might as well just all turn up on towersstreet with our Patio Cleaners
Maybe that should be the next weird marketing promo, free entry if you bring your own jet wash.

I might bring some gardening gloves whilst I’m at it and do some de weeding around Nemesis

Dream job, replanting the nemesis pit, or pruning the lavender going down the Icon steps.
Volunteer gardeners at Towers has been discussed on here before.
Bags me clearing the garden stepping stones.
I was watching a gardener go about his business yesterday in the gardens, up by the conservatory. Was left thinking just how great a job it seems he's got!

Not much pruning to do on Icon. All the lavender is now pretty much dead, along with the acers.

Do the gardeners cut the grass in ride areas or is that down to each ride team/engineers?I was watching a gardener go about his business yesterday in the gardens, up by the conservatory. Was left thinking just how great a job it seems he's got!

I'm not sure about that, I'd love to find out more about the maintainence that goes on behind the scenes. I've got a close friend who works at the park on many different rides, he has never mentioned anything of the ops team or engineers doing it to me, so I'd imagine it's the gardeners and cleaning team.
