What's additionally concerning is some of the replies from the account's large following, who seem to think this was a good idea and that it might end up encouraging them to try.

Perhaps Towers management could give a quick reminder to not do that at the annual event coming up at ATH in a few months.

Well erm I’m sure people have done worse possibly? But in all seriousness can understand why she done it but not really the most ideal time to do it.

Fireworks cancelled, with the last weekend being Passholders entry only:

7th & 8th November
Alton Towers Resort

We look forward to welcoming Passholders to an exclusive Priority Weekend at Alton Towers Resort, as the annual Fireworks Spectacular will no longer go ahead.

Share massive giggles, mega thrills and major glee with your family on our world class coasters and family attractions until 6pm each day, and exclusive discounts on short breaks.

Does anyone know or could take an educated guess at how many pass holders there actually are?
If the resort is still allowed to be open by that point, I could be tempted if crowds will be low.

EDIT - tbf, it depends on what the allocation of tickets is set at for each day as well. Its a good idea by the park as a kind of 'thank you' for the amount of issues that pre-booked days have caused. Or it will be if we can book in for this anyway!

Have Alton ever done a passholder exclusive day before?

Yes. Often used to do them before the start of the season. Used to get lots of complaints as people expected low numbers of guests, but because everyone went along expecting low numbers, the passholder days were often busier than the first normal days of the season.

It’s a smart move considering how much of a bashing they’ve received over the last few months from angry pass holders. I’d imagine they want to end the season on better terms.

No surprise about fireworks, probably outside of Merlin’s control but at least it’s officially announced as cancelled without the usual messing of not cancelling until it’s too late.

Nice move to offer a passholder weekend (with small amount of pre-booked tickets), will it be enough to calm people down...who knows, let’s just hope the weather plays nicely.

This doesn't get anywhere near making up for the disgraceful way passholders have been treated this year. I doubt all passholders who want to attend on these new dates will even be able to get tickets anyway when it comes to it.

I’ve never heard of it happening at towers.

Maybe I am not recalling it correctly and it was just Thorpe & Chessington that offer them. It’s been at least 10 years since AT did one I think if they did offer them.

But at the other parks they definitely had issues with the crowds being worse than other days early in the season. The passholder days weren’t really much of a perk.

Maybe i've just been lucky, but as a passholded i don't feel like i've been treated "disgracefully". I'm taking my 6 visit to Towers this season on Thursday, and 3 of those have been on Saturdays. Perhaps i've just been lucky when i've checked and it's been just after they've released some extra tickets or something.

Anyone want a new job? Towers are hiring for a new Marketing Director.

Responsibilities include:
developing our 10-year New Product Development strategy across the entire Resort, whilst also improving brand values and championing the ‘consumer perspective’ across all department

They also highlight the need to develop a succession plan, which gives me all the right feels of job security there.

In fairness, this is something all large businesses should do, it's about allowing for upwards progression as much as anything else - all too often I've seen situations where somebody has been promoted but end up doing effectively 2 jobs because no thought has been given to who will do the person's previous job.
