The Brexit Thread

Quite eye opening. I wonder how many voters on either side of the debate understood the complexity of trade.
I can say from experience at work customs isn't intuitive (even within the EU) so I fully expect there to be a large number of people who don't understand it

How many people won't understand it and have little desire to learn when they could buy it from 26 other member states hassle free...

So the UK is now a "third country" as the transition period comes to an end.

I guess this thread can be locked now as Brexit is over and there's nothing left to discuss... :tearsofjoy:

The governments motivation behind the scrapping of the tax.

Its the UK that has been trying to scrap the tax from with the EU since before 2016. 4 years later they hadn't been able to achieve it from inside, they've done it the first day they could from outside.

This point is not one that really deserves the cynicism.

Another good thing about leaving the EU (although I doubt the British Government really cares about it) is that we don't have to introduce article 13. This essentially make major websites responsible for copyright as soon as anything is posted on them, many websites that rely on user generated content have said that this will be impossible for them to implement unless they either used an automated system (in which case you wouldn't be able to upload anything that is fair use, many have said that article 13 would effectively ban memes) or hire a lot of people to moderate their sites (which is impractical)
