Wow; that’s a really cool angle!

I must admit I always found it weird how none of Mack’s other spinning coasters were like Euro-Mir, or at least that no other Mack spinners like it were ever built. It really is an anomaly within Mack’s spinning coaster lineup; it’s listed as a Spinning Coaster on RCDB (the same model as the likes of Dwervelwind at Toverland, Sierra Sidewinder at Knott’s Berry Farm and the upcoming Storm Chaser at Paultons, amongst others), but it’s nothing like any of the others. It’s quite a bit older, quite a bit larger, has a huge spiral lift hill and even has a totally different track style!

I wonder why no other rides like Euro-Mir were ever built, as it seems to be fairly positively received by those who ride?

Most importantly It's also not free-spinning. The cars only rotate at certain points in the track and always stop facing a pre-set direction. That's probably why there was only one ever built.
It's a weird ride Euro-Mir, not an amazing ride but so unique you can't help but love it.

I dislike Euro-Mir, but I'd never want any harm to befall it.

It's a bit rough, really very intense and just a bit much for the market which it was designed. I think that is why it's never been built again.

Roland has been in the press this week to share his frustration that promised aid to businesses like his have yet to materialise. It currently unknown when and how the parks and hotel may reopen. It was aimed for Germany to get its 7-day incidence number below 35 before reopening public life however the decline since Christmas has stopped recently and started to increase again as the mutations spread wider through Germany.

Roland Mack's frustration with the current situation can be heard. In clear, precise words, he describes Europa-Park's situation for Tourism Minister Guido Wolf and CDU member of the state parliament Marion Gentges at a virtual meeting of the CDU Ettenheim.
Employees return: Several hundred employees were brought back from furlough on Monday. Thousands of additional seasonal workers need to be recruited and trained so that they can be there quickly when the store opens. But all of these measures are based purely on suspicion, complains Mack: "At the moment we have no information whatsoever as to which time periods can be expected."

There is no perspective: the fact that one does not know under what conditions one can expect an opening again is what concerns the park most at the moment. Mack is therefore appealing to the Minister of Tourism to give the hotel and catering industry lead time. "We have to know where we are. I think that in Berlin you don't even know what it means to suddenly stop an operation the size of Europa-Park - and, if necessary, restart it," explains Mack.

Still no help: In November, operations had to be stopped within four days. However, the promised aid failed to materialise. "At the moment we cannot even submit an application for this - I would have hoped for more from politics," the entrepreneur makes clear.
Investments on hold: As long as the money is lacking, the park burns "equity in the six-digit range every day. It's a very, very difficult situation, we can only speak of luck that we have done well in recent years," summarizes Mack. In order to remain liquid, construction sites have to be closed and investments postponed. "There are now double-digit million amounts," emphasizes Mack.

Community under pressure: This money is not only missing from the park, as a look at the community shows: until a few months ago, Rust had reserves of ten million euros. Because the income from business tax collapses and large investments are pending, one must reckon with 20 million debts by 2022. "Europa-Park should not only be seen as a company in itself, the entire area is dependent on the catering and hotel industry. The whole region suffers," said Roland Mack.

Wolf shows understanding: "The situation is dramatic," agreed Gentges and Wolf. Large companies need just as much support in a crisis as small and medium-sized ones. Wolf: "We also want these companies to survive and grow. So I can share Roland Mack's displeasure that the November and December aid have not yet arrived - that is a loss of confidence."

Catering industry on the ground: The mood in the hotel and tourism industry is down, the nerves are on edge, Mack describes his impression from discussions with industry representatives: "Now politicians have to send out signals so that there is still a little courage, also for this year ", which starts almost even worse than 2020.
Politicians promise help: "We are in talks with European and federal politicians. One has the impression that there is no lack of good will, but the solution is still a long time coming - and that affects people. We are trying to stay tuned - there must something will happen, "Wolf promised.

Lower VAT again: Mack has a few ideas about what needs to happen: "The health of our guests is very important, but I believe that with the hygiene measures that are currently being implemented in the hotel and catering industry, one can also be responsible for one or the other . " In addition, he asked Wolf to advocate maintaining the VAT cut: "Basically, the catering and hotel industry has to foot the bill so that the economy and industry can continue to operate. They urgently need this VAT advantage." With this demand he ran open doors to the tourism minister. The state CDU wants the VAT cut to be extended until the end of the year, reported Wolf. "Looking to the future, a permanent reduction would be the best funding program for the industry that could be achieved."

Despite all Corona worries: Europa-Park is already working on a new project in the background. A restaurant with the name "Eatrenalin" (a combination of "Eat", in English: eat, and "Adrenalin") is to be built in the immediate vicinity of the water world. The internet portal parkerlebnis.de reports on this. According to this, the project aims to interweave moving chairs, artificial intelligence, virtual media and sophisticated cuisine. Construction should start soon, and it will open in autumn. Involved are Thomas Mack, head of Europa-Park gastronomy, the companies Mack Rides, Mack Animation and Mack Next as well as two-star chef Peter Hagen-Wiest from the Park-Restaurant Ammolite.

Europa-Park will introduce a new digital service next month. From next Monday, all accounts for Europa-Park services will be bundled in one place. The initiative is called MackOne.

Until now, users had to create separate accounts for the various services of the German amusement park, such as the ticket shop, the subscription page, the hotels and the webshop. Soon everyone will be able to use MackOne everywhere.

“As of March 2021, one central MackOne account is enough to log in to many of our websites and apps without having to re-register,” the description reads. "Existing accounts will be transferred automatically. After that, your old login details are no longer valid."

App
Mid-March, MackOne will also be linked to the official app of Europa-Park and water world Rulantica. The name was undoubtedly copied from Apple One, a bundle of Apple services that was launched last fall.

Europa-Park is a family business run by the Mack family. This also applies to the sister companies Mack Rides, MackMedia, Mack Animation and Mack NeXT. We are currently working on its own streaming service: Veejoy .

To coincide somewhat with the above, Europa-Park have launched a new website. The two things that stand out for me on first glance are that it looks better desiged for use on a mobile device (although I have only looked on a PC thus far) and the main homepage has Mack International branding rather than Europa-Park branding!

You then have different areas of the website for Europa-Park, Rulantica, Accommodation, Events, Confertainment and Yullube.

Martin, whose videos are always rather... quirky (at the start), has a video of Wodan testing from yesterday. His channel is somewhat odd, but fundamentally he's around EP/Rust every day pretty much so things rarely get missed.

It lives.

I’m not sure it’s much of an improvement. After a quick look, there seems to be a very similar feel, albeit with a new aesthetic. Disappointingly things like menus for some of the restaurants have disappeared, which almost feels like a step backwards.

I’m also trying work out exactly what Mack One does other than change your password. It seems rather odd to promote, what appears to be a change to how you log in to your account, so heavily.

Am I missing something or is this not (at least yet) the revolution that it is being promoted as?

I've not had a proper look around the site but it probably is the same content with a new look. EP's main Twitter account have responded to someone confirming that the menus will be returning to the website in the future. I guess because everything is closed at the moment 2021 menus have not been confirmed.

A lot of the F&B outlets had menus missing anyway - I would imagine 2021 menus will be added in the next month or so.

I've no doubt the menus will return, which is fine. I'm one of those people who tries to decide what they'll eat ages before actually going to EP. :p

Yeah far as I've seen its just to consolidate all Mack stuff accounts into one account. Especially ahead of the addition of VeeJoy (Mack/EP Streaming Service) to their offerings this summer.

Also filming for new EP Weekly episodes has begun again!

The winter season ice sculptures display, which after the winter season was cancelled, were being kept in the hopes guests over Easter could view them are being left to melt now. The power has been turned off. No guests ever got to see the 30 sculptures. "a sad symbol for the current situation" as Roland says in this Newspaper article. Germany's lockdown is extended officially until 18th April for now but no perspective exists for when the park may reopen.

Europa-Park's press Twitter account has also now posted about this:

Sounds like they had over 2 million guests in total last year. So far less than they usually would, but not bad all things considered.

That’s incredibly sad to watch... isn’t there any way the park could have saved those for next winter?

I know that the practicalities of keeping sculptures like that cold for an extended period of time are quite difficult and expensive, so I understand why they did it, but surely whatever they’ve done for the past 4 months or so would have sufficed for a decent length of time?
