Drayton Manor Park

Maybe they’ll announce that at a later date? I also don’t see any mention of this Waveswinger they’ve supposedly bought, so I’d imagine that whatever the park does this year will be announced within time.

Something I find interesting is that you have to wear face coverings on rides like Air Race, Apocalypse, Pandemonium and Accelerator, but not on Shockwave... if I’m recalling correctly, doesn’t Shockwave have an indoor queue?

I was wondering this about the Wave Swinger. The only place mentioned is first drop magazine, no mention anywhere else. Unless I missed it, no visible sign of groundworks for it on the recent drone videos either?

Interesting how Apocalypse and Pandemonium are listed as opening. The pessimist in me is that they have been listed but will actually happen to be 'closed for maintenance' each day.

I think splash canyon and the new wave swinger are not due to open until summer and likely any promotion of new attractions won’t happen until nearer the time. I also think apocalypse and pandemonium are planned to be open in 2021 and being sold as available from the end of the season, that remains to be seen though.

How can Sheriff's Showdown open on the 12th April if it's inside?

I’m not sure exactly how the legislation and government guidance works, but my guess is as Sheriffs Showdown is small cars each holding one household and there is a good distance between each car, it’s just about okay. But attractions that are more free flow like the Haunting or similar are harder to separate households out on and have more people inside the same room closer together

Was looking at the Height requirements to see what attractions my 20 month year old could go on now and at the bottom Splash Canyon is still listed on there.

It is updated as before it said this ride is currently unavailable but now it says closed.

Also the looping group have done wonders on getting the whole park back open as last season the Dodgems were closed it was listed as Covid reasons for not opening but it was flooded back in Feb last year and the park didn’t have the funds to do the repairs so it used for storage and a temporary work shop that’s why it was all covered up.
On Sheriff showdown last season as well you had to wear a mask in the queue line and you couldn’t remove it to you were on the ride. Then had to put it back on to you exited the queue. All the indoor queue lines request this.

Drayton haven’t even had the rapids passed off by HSE and Ride Safety inspectors so can see the Shockwave building been finished by the end of the month so the scaffolding can come down and the ride start testing ready for the 12th April while the contractors continue on the rapids. By the area where the boats use to get stuck it looks like there under water guide rails been installed so the boats will never hit each other again.

A bigger concern for me is how can Accelerator open if they are using the very much indoor queue. The fact it says face coverings must be worn when queuing (but not riding!?) suggests they do plan to use the indoor queue. I don't recall the queue being very well ventillated either.

There’s 2m Markers in the queue line and they only loading every other row on the train. It’s only Shockwave they use every row but you got to wear masks all the time.

Shockwave's capacity was pretty bad last time I went (summer 2019), if they're loading every other row then the queue must be awful.

If that's what you noticed in the first ten seconds I can only assume you had it muted!

So we have a man hiding in bushes with a camera, breathing heavily, filming builders outside a children's park. Seems legit. Not meaning to sound bad taste. But that is exactly what that video shows. Drayton Manor excites me. But not like that.

I like the colours of Splash Canyon. Although they look a little bit washed out, that could be the camera though. It appears some new theming elements might be present? Looking good and plenty of work going on, always nice to see.

It’s good to see lots of work and cleaning happening, especially around the shockwave and storm force area. Also so much work going on with the rapids area, pretty much confirms it will open at some point this season.

I wonder if they have anything planned for the Pirate Adventure building in the coming years. As I think the MACK ride system is still in place.

It seems like a big piece of prime park land to waste forever on storage. Even if they remove the building. I am sure we will see something on that site sooner than later. It is one of the best and most central locations, surrounded on 3 sides (almost 4) with park / zoo. Something has to go there.
