Well it won't be most the big rides too cold at that time of year. Maybe Nemesis or Oblivion might get away with it

The cold weather is February.

They can operate a lot more in November/December than they can in January/February.
But they spready out the winter maintanance so won't open the whole park. But 15/20 years ago when they did Winter Weekends for hotel guests it used to be Forbidden Valley November/December and X Sector January/February. Then they tried to move to a more family based line-up for winter openings with very few big coasters open.
Bad weather is what stopped the February half term openings though.

2021 info is seemingly being loaded to the website in dribs and drabs.

The Golf opening hours have now gone up. They can (emphasis on can) be a good indicator for theme park opening hours (since the theme park hours online at the moment are more placeholders than anything).

It seems that Oktoberfest dates could well be Thursday-Sunday in 2020 as opposed to all week based on the slightly later opening hours for Golf on those dates.

Hopefully they actually release some information on the events soon!

I'm just hoping Oktoberfest comes back this year it was a great event

If they got rid of their silly rules on temperature that are unnecessarily high on some rides, then I'm sure they could open quite a lot more rides over Christmas.

I don't see why the likes of Oblivion, Nemesis, Air, the Mine Train and potentially Wicker Man can't open below 5 degrees. I'm sure Rita can run as well, though I'd wager its winter work is more time consuming than the others given the hydraulic launch, so maybe that'd be out of the question.

But if Towers really wanted wanted to go all out with Christmas, they could realistically offer:
  • Cbeebies
  • Spinball
  • Oblivion
  • Enterprise
  • Hex
  • Driving School
  • Gangsta Granny
  • Frog Hopper
  • Carousel
  • Nemesis
  • Air
  • Duel
  • RMT
  • Wicker Man
  • Heave Ho
  • Teacups

Its not the temperature issue for some of the rides, they did used to run more on winter weekends. They have just decided to focus the Christmas offering in a different way and make Christmas family activities (a panto, Santa's grotto) etc more of the focus of the event compared to the old winter weekends.
Temperature has been an issue running some rides, particularly in February, but I think there are other reasons they choose not to run the larger coasters for Christmas events, mainly as they want to aim at under families with kids under 12 who still want to meet Santa.

This survey seems to show further that they don't want to focus a Christmas offering around the same theme park as is open in the summer, they want to do something different.

I think realistically, only the B&Ms out of the big coasters would operate in colder weather. I'm sure Rita could but as mentioned the maintenance on that will be a bit more heavy than other coasters. No chance of wicker man, smiler or th13teen

The page for the half marathon in November states that all the rides will be available, which obviously isn't true.Towers never run the big rides that late in the season because of the weather. Thirteen, Wicker Man and Smiler will almost definitely be closed then as it will just be too cold.

The run event is only a week after fireworks isn’t it? Temperatures won’t drop that much in a week. I imagine they will be able to run most rides as normal unless there is a freak weather event.

Another option could be to open the scare mazes instead of the rollercoasters, this means that the weather is not a variable but if guest numbers are low then they could lose a lot of money.

November is not an issue for weather. They have run all the big coasters into the middle of November before. Maybe the newer ones are different and Thirteen in particular due to the location struggles, but November weather is not as cold as Jan/Feb.

I think in December time when its getting colder I imagine the newest 3 out of the main coasters would certainly struggle the most. I think the B&Ms would be fine and maybe Rita aswell but it depends with the maintenance schedule with that one

Discussion on what coasters could open is irrelevant anyway, its unlikely to happen. They are looking at running a family Christmas event that offers something different compared to the summer season. They want families to see it as an event worth visiting as it is significantly different to a regular day at the theme park.

Exactly this.

If it was the same offering as in the summer, why would people bother going? You would just go in the summer period when it was warmer.

By offering something different like Christmas markets and Ice rinks it will encourage people to visit at that time of year.

I think if anything they would be good to get in some small travelling kids rides, merry go round etc which can fit in with the festive theme and be located in the same area as everything else.

Who says they can't have rides and a Christmas event?
I did the Europa Park Christmas event a couple of years ago and virtually everything was open.
They had a big Christmas market on the entrance street and they put an artificial ice rink over the rapids.
By the time the park closed (8pm), it was 2°C but still even the big coasters remained open.
I recall saying at the time that a UK park should try doing a large-scale Christmas event and I still think they should.

The past few Novembers havent been overly cold, I think they'd be fine - if it does get too cold they could just say Oblivion, Galactica and Nemesis would be on to cover themselves.
