Drayton Manor Park

I think it is highly likely this will be the retheme of splash canyon. The fact the work has been taking place and its has been heavily rumoured that Cornish/seaside theming that exists with Stormforce 10 and maelstrom was going to extended to cover the rest of that area. The teaser matches with these rumours. It will be interesting to see how they will theme it into this theme so its not too similar to the storm force 10 theme. It could also include the new Wave Swinger which is also expected in that area. There is talk of a Disco coaster coming at some point as well, I expect they will add this for 2022 and would be fairly easy to theme that to fit into the theme.

Looks like the Rapids are getting new boats.

Are there other rides being added (such as the promoted waveswinger), or is this just the retheme of Splash Canyon?

Action Park will be renamed and rethemed to Adventure Cove, a seaside themed area. The rapids will reopen and the Wave Swinger will be going on the G-Force site and should be open in summer.

Looks like new boats too, according to the website
The first of many attractions to be announced in the park is the new River Rapids ride. The young and young-at-heart will be taken on a journey, through a cartoon-style fishing port, on their very own 9-person boat around a rapids course, past vibrant painted shacks and seafarers.

The new Adventure Cove area is set to open in stages from spring 2021, with more attractions to be announced in due course. The exciting addition is the first investment phase of new owners, Looping Group, which aims to introduce more new elements to the park’s family-friendly offering.

ADVENTURE COVE
Immerse yourself in a brand-new world of nautical fun. Adventure Cove; anchoring in 2021.

An exciting addition to the park, the new Adventure Cove area will be a nautical themed zone for the whole family to enjoy, with fun add-ons to some of the park’s most-loved family-favourites, and a selection of new rides and attractions.

The new area is set to bring a vibrant maritime theme, offering a bright and colourful coastal feel, with barrels, boats and steering wheels aplenty.

Family-favourites such as Shockwave have also been painted in a vibrant rainbow of colours, bringing a fresh and fun atmosphere to the area. A riveting light-house rescue mission awaits guests for Stormforce 10, on this wild, white-knuckle ride like no other. Stormforce 10 fans will also be thrilled with the painting of the iconic tower, creating a dramatic view over the lake.

From the pictures on the website it looks like there might be two new rides.
They have one picture each for Stormforce 10, Rapids, Shockwave, Maelstrom, and Air Race, and then 2 coming soon slates.
If this is right, I guess the Wave Swinger is one, but do we have any idea about the other?

Great to see new boats for the rapids, seem to be the same style as on Infinity Falls! Alton Towers - please take note.

Pretty sure the other is a Zamperla Disko.

Ooh, it’s exciting to hear them say that it’s the “first investment phase” under the Looping Group; I’ll be intrigued to see what other family attractions the Looping Group choose to put in!

As for Adventure Cove itself; it should be really great, and I think it’s nice to see the park going for more cohesive themed areas! Out of interest, is it known whether Air Race is getting changed to fit in with the new theme, as it’s the only ride in the area that doesn’t fit with the whole nautical/seaside theme now that G Force is gone?

The new theme does seem great though, better than the previous mismatch of wild west (Splash Canyon and Shockwave) with seaside (Stormforce and Maelstrom) plus whatever G-Force was and Air Race.

That area of the park used to have a fairly consistent Wild West theme when they had the Klondike Gold Mine and Black Revolver, but then they let it go. It's odd, because generally the theme park industry has moved towards immersive areas, and being a family business, it should have been easier for them to make long term plans.

The beach area at Holiday Park has a really nice atmosphere, so I think this re-theme could work very well. The risk is that Storm Force 10 and the rapids could end up with fairly similar themes, but we’ll see. All in all though, this is their most exciting development in a decade. Probably their best development since Ben 10.

Hats off to Looping Group, for their first season of owning the park they seem to be going all in. Even with them not having time to make any major investments they're really sprucing up the park and giving it the attention it deserves. It's actually making me want to visit again. I just hope they change their minds and keep Apocalypse.

Out of interest, what do we think might be next on the Looping Group’s agenda once Adventure Cove has been completed? And/or what would we like to be next on Looping Group’s agenda?

Personally, I think a new, middle-ground family roller coaster of some kind would be a great fit for the park, possibly inhabiting the area that was once occupied by Vertigo. If they wanted a larger site, they could even possibly remove the Buffalo, as I know that that’s seemingly been on the cards for quite a few years now if the rumour mill is anything to go by.

I certainly think that the future of Drayton Manor now looks incredibly bright, at least much more so than it did 6 months to a year ago!

. Pandemonium and Apocalypse are removed for an S&S
FreeSpin
. G-Force replaced by a Zamperla Disk'O and a Wave Swinger
. Splash Canyon rethemed and renamed and reopened in 2021
. Shockwave repainted to fit new Splash Canyon look
. Pirates Adventure replaced by Zamperla Indoor Coaster similar to Hurakan at Bellewaerde
. VertiGone replaced by four flat rides
Rumours Suggests What the Looping Group Will Add In the Next Few Years At Drayton Manor - YouTube
What the hell!!! I literally watched this video and apparently he got sent an inside source about Drayton Manor investment from the Looping group over the next few years and some of these rumours are fair enough and likely but others are crazy!
Sorry to double post, but it might be worth remembering these rumours posted by Coaster Chall on YouTube back in December as to what might be in Drayton Manor’s future.

At the time, these were dismissed by many as being too optimistic, but based on today’s announcement from Drayton, it would appear that at least 2, probably 3 what with the additional attractions rumoured/teased, of the 6 rumours discussed in that video are coming to fruition in 2021. Could that video hold more clues to Drayton Manor’s future than many expected at the time?

Regardless, it would certainly appear that Looping Group will be investing a lot into Drayton over the next few years, and I certainly think the park will gain a new lease of life and propel itself back among the country’s more major players over the next few years!

Boats look great, and this new theme does seem to tie the existing rides together in that area of the park quite nicely.

Simple but effective.

Sorry about the double post:
William Bryan, managing director at Drayton Manor Park, said: “We are so excited to welcome visitors back to the park, and introduce them to Adventure Cove this summer!

“We’ve been busy behind the scenes while the park has been closed, and we’re really pleased with how the new area is looking already and can’t wait to see it finished.

"We are working closely with our local contractors and are hugely grateful to both them and the support of Looping Group for this new development.

“It’s especially exciting for us to the be able to launch the new Adventure Cove area, along with number of new rides and attractions for families and coaster fans alike. We look forward to welcoming guests back to enjoy a summer of fun and seafaring adventures at Drayton Manor Park.”
