If there are any restrictions post 21st June, I would expect those to be bans on travel to countries that have particularly high rates or new variants.
I agree; I personally see things being fairly normal on a domestic basis post-21st June barring a few minor safeguards (e.g. increased hand washing/sanitisation, self-isolation and contact tracing etc.), but with travel still being fairly limited. Not too dissimilar to what New Zealand has had for the past year or so.

Why divisive? The only division seems to be between those who accept they're a handy tool to save lives and those who think they're a government conspiracy to stop us smiling at each other ?

They are divisive because every time I go out, the same knuckle dragging oxygen thieves are not wearing them where they are supposed to and I’m getting fed up of confronting them.
I don’t get paid to put myself at risk like our boys in blue, just get rid of this silly rule then those that wish to wear them can and the rest of us can get on with our lives.
There’s no conspiracy, even the scientists don’t agree if they actually have much effect, virtually everyone at high risk has now had both vaccines so no need to carry on doing something that at best has a negligible effect but most of the public object too.
Unless of course Hancock has shares in mask production as well.....

I'm very much looking forward to masks going as they provide little to no benefit and are uncomfortable, anti-social and damaging to the environment. Come June 21st it should not be mandated, those who wish to wear one can continue to do so.

For me personally, I'm regularly at Stockley Park for work where we have to wear them at all times and they really irritate my skin (eczema sufferer).

At the moment the data is better than anyone predicted. No vaccine for me yet but I expect it'll be within a month or so.

I haven't found them troublesome wearing them for half hour or so whilst inside a shop (hence why I also find it irrigating that customers can't do it for such a short space of time) but wearing it full time at work, all day everyday is horrible. Brings rashes and spots out on my skin, makes my beard itchy and the worst bit is the pain on top of my ears and the headache that comes with it.

Wearing them at work sucks, especially given I'm autistic and have sensory issues emanating from having stuff tight over my face for a long period of time. I have to admit that when I pop into the back office quickly to check emails, I do remove it, but I don't think it's a major problem owing to the fact I'm the only person in that room. Having said this, I'm looking forward to face coverings no longer being a requirement.

eh? They work because if they didnt all the medics would have caught covid, its just people have various types of masks, and a bit of cloth just doesnt cut it. They dont have to be uncomfortable - the one I have is very comfy and has a N95 filter.... anti social? I can still talk to people so how does that make it any more anti social than speaking with someone wearing a head/face covering for religious reasons? As for damaging to environment, not if people dispose of them properly.

Presumably it's the exact reason that apart from speech I like masks for, less literal face to face communication.

From the moment the timetable of removal of restrictions was announced each date was always the earliest it could happen. The whole point of 5 week intervals is to see the effect of the preceeding changes on the infection and death rate. Its a sensible plan.

Why would you be surprised by these dates not being set in stone now? They never were.

That’s not what was said, it wasn’t “we may have to extend the June lifting” it was “after the June lifting we may need to keep some restrictions”.

Considering we are doing better than the model that informed the dates said we would do I’m just curious what restrictions will stay in place.

Masks probably have some protection, though if the mask isn’t fully sealed to your face a filter isn’t going to be much good as in general air will take the route of least resistance and slipping between the face and the mask is far easier than passing the filter. That’s why we all had to get fit tested in the hospitals to check the mask actually worked.

Most of the time I have to wear disposable ones now as this is part of the rules at work. I have reusable ones for shops etc but that's only for a short period of time so more bearable.

Anti-social because you can't see people's faces when speaking to them. I get not much can be helped by that but it can be difficult to hear what people are saying sometimes, especially in noisy shops/cafes with the radio or machines on too. I like seeing facial expressions when interacting with someone too.

Even disposing of a mask properly, by cutting the straps off too, they're damaging to environment. Disposable ones are classed as medical waste and (generally) cannot be recycled. Most single use ones are made from materials which will take 450 years or so to degrade and break down into microplastics. If they don't end up in the oceans it'll be landfill.

EDIT: I should add as well, I do believe some people think masks mean they're basically immune to catching Covid and as a result, other precautions, such as the 1m+ guidance, has gone out of the window. When this came in in shops I noticed a big change in people's attitude towards distancing.

According to The Times, the 1m+ rule is being scrapped from 21st June, but masks may be kept in some situations, as well as things like one-way systems: https://apple.news/A0LZDNV8BTRutzapQ_sviXg
I’ve hardly seen any one way systems since at least last summer, and the few I have seen are widely ignored (Like some of the ones that are in place at Towers). They were were introduced by places simply to be seen as to be doing something.

It’s good to see a lot of people out and about. Noted many buses full, though the occasional one you see showing bus full with about 5 people sat upstairs. I took a train the other day, Chester towards Liverpool, though only going 3 stops, full and standing only, and being a warm day and the heating on full blast on the train, within ten mins barely anyone had masks on, which was actually recommended by the guard as the heating can’t be adjusted, and it wasn’t very comfortable.

Although not being worn properly, masks are about the only thing left realistically because they're visible and easily noticed if someone is not wearing one. One way systems and distancing are mostly ignored now. This was the problem we had last summer with the nonsense tier system. You either have simple, strict rules or a lockdown, no half way houses. Some businesses still being closed and masks being worn here and there are all that's really differentiating now from normal times in terms of public behaviour. That and the sanitiser stations which seem to be used as a 'freebie hand wash' by people more than anything as many people I've seen using them then go on to break all other rules afterwards anyway.

I am on election duty on Thursday, will have to wear a mask from 7am till 10pm pretty much all the time. And after that for the count.

Not looking forward to confronting the people who will walk into the polling station without wearing a mask. And I suspect there will be quite a few.

If wearing masks in certain situations is something we have to continue for a little while longer and it lets us return to doing activities we otherwise could not then I'm all for it. Sure they're not the nicest things to wear but they clearly have a benefit. I had not realised until this pandemic that many people in eastern Asian countries would wear a mask in public if they thought they had a respiratory disease so that they could reduce transmission. I actually think that is a really good idea! Personal choice though, of course.

Disappointed but not surprised by this. I've been following this story closely since Lord and Osmond pulled the Government's pants down over the curfew and substantial meal rule. Stinks of corruption this case though, with delay after delay. This Government will never admit when they're wrong though.

I’d certainly be happy to continue wearing masks for longer; they don’t inhibit businesses like social distancing does, and I don’t actually mind wearing them too much. I don’t know about anyone else, but I personally don’t find them too obtrusive.
