Still it and Shed Tezza stand empty. A waste of money between them. Hopefully the shed can be used for something again or flattened and replaced with a flat ride and Ice Age can be rethemed to something Walliams and reopen.

Oh I agree they should of had a show in the theatre years ago, but I expect the smaller budgets following the huge drop in guest numbers after the Smiler incident is the big issue.
Now they have a show again but its being done on the lawns as outdoor entertainment is easier to make Covid safe.

This might be odd, but I wouldn't be opposed in them turning N:ST into a combined facilities building. The bogs under the Skyride are cramped and a bit nasty. A building with bigger, better access toilets and multiple RADAR accessed toilet rooms plus maybe an info desk, while not particularly creative, would be an improvement.

While I agree that is likely needed in FV, I'd rather see a ride site being used for a ride.
Toilets would be better at the Galactica end of FV really.
There are already toilets just over 100m away towards the Haunted House under the monorail tracks.

This is interesting. Because the toilet provision in this area gives a hint to the old layout of the park pre Thunder Valley existing. You have a high capacity toilet building between GW and FV to serve that end of the garden's close to where the park railway would have run and a small toilet provision underneath the Sky Ride - the only attraction that was there before Thunder Looper was built.

Yet there's no toilets anywhere near Galactica other than in RR. I'd like to see NST reopen, new parking provision on the fields and the Air car park used for a new coaster with it and Galactica sectioned off to become a new area themed to the Future/Sci Fi or something. Oh and of course a new toilet block.

Surely the toilets at duel were put in at the same time duel was built, which would have been after Thunder Valley opened?

A better idea might be to convert the former Refresh @ Ripsaw block maybe? It'd be nice to get buildings in to use and get rid of an issue.

Maybe if N:ST was converted, Refresh @ Ripsaw could be flattened and that'd open a space for a NST replacement. So one out one in sort of thing.

I only assumed they were they before because they were built to an almost identical design to the X Sector and Fountain Square Blocks from the 80's? I could be wrong of course but they do look like they predate 92.

The mutiny bay block is basically the same as well but one entrance is from the courtyard side. Two entrances seems like a great design for efficiency, the Haunted House toilets almost feels like both entrances are in completely separate parts of the park.

in terms of toilet geekiness though I always love how the Disneyland Paris ones feel so American and the layout and tiling always reminds me so much of Disneyworld Florida.

I’ve said it a few times on this subject but for me the ideal outcome here is keep the concept but replace the ride.

To be clear, NST was a good ride, it scared the shit out of me the first time I rode it, the issue is that it quite rapidly loses its effect with re-rides and even at its peak, you do get off it and once the initial euphoria has worn off you start to think about what could be done with that concept.

I’d love to see AT just get in touch with Michael Eisenhower (or whoever the actual imagineers were behind Alien) and basically just take a load of the main concepts from that - you know, the ride which was a MASSIVE hit and it’s departure is mourned decades later, which ironically is supposedly what they were going for originally.

I’m not necessarily saying they need to copy the ride hardware (there’s better versions around now I’m sure anyway) but as it was Disney that installed it I’d imagine it’s ludicrously expensive even now. But the feeling of isolation, the darkness and the hints at something being there and the gradual increase in fear and suspense - don’t get me wrong they do all of those things but they don’t do it anywhere near as well as they might which is why the ride relies on a)that initial moment of shock when the egg is open and you start to feel the back pokers etc and b) the numerous staff required to run the ‘on foot’ scenes. The irony being that a lot of these things can be achieved very cheaply as it very much relies on what you don’t see rather than what you do. The scaremaze at the end is tacky and utterly ridiculous in the context of the (very good) story which has been built up up to that point.

The thing is if they made some wholesale changes (they could even change the name) they could rebrand it as a new ride and be well within their rights to do so.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure this sign is new...

There has got to be something happening in the bulding, surely!
