Thorpe Park: General Discussion

“Brand new” unless you’ve been to Universal HHN . Nearly every maze at Thorpe has an analogue equivalent from Universal’s event - “Trailers” having the same concept as “Slaughter Cinema” . Is originality too much to ask for?

Are you really going to complain about that?!
I reckon that most visitors to Fright Nights will never have been to HHN, so won't recognise the concept.

I really don't mind unoriginal concepts as long as they are well executed. Thorpe needs to work on their execution first before approaching originality! Last year's mazes... sheesh

Thorpe need to remember how to be a quality attraction for all and provide experiences/rides as they were meant to be experienced. Before they try to be the next worlds first movie themed scare maze….

wait they wouldn't say that would they

Out of interest, is there a drop-off zone at Thorpe Park, for people who want to drop someone off at or pick them up from Thorpe, but don’t actually want to park in the car park?

I only ask because I’m going at the start of September, and this will actually be my first ever time visiting a theme park alone; my parents are going to Wentworth for the day to watch the golf, and I had expressed keenness to get back to Thorpe before the end of the season, so after some thinking, we all thought that dropping me at Thorpe for the day while my parents are merely 15 minutes away at Wentworth would be a great plan!

As such, I was wondering whether my parents would be able to drop me off at an allocated zone within Thorpe itself, or whether I’d have to get dropped off outside the park somewhere within the village of Chertsey and walk in (I see public pathways leading into the property, so I know that walking in is definitely possible).

Had a great long weekend at THORPE apart from you know what again today ....

Samurai is at a point where it's disappointing knowing what I was like just a few months ago, it's definitely slower, am I correct in understanding that it was also slowed down when it moved from Chessington?

I did Black Mirror LABYRINTH 11 times today, they appeared to be having some minor technical issues with it including at one point the batch I was in forcing the pre show doors open (I grabbed the host about that!) With it going down as a result of door issues.

Out of interest, which ride should I head to first if I want to maximise my ride count at Thorpe? I only ask because I’m going tomorrow, and I sense that we may have made an error starting with Saw on our last visit, as it already had a 40 minute queue by the time we reached it (in spite of the fact we’d been in the park since around 9:30am and were in the opening time crowd).

It’s a little more difficult to pinpoint at Thorpe, because there isn’t really a notable “back of the park” in the way that there is at Towers; the furthest coaster away from the entrance is probably Saw, but the place isn’t that big, so it probably doesn’t make too much difference whether something is at the front or back of the park.

the furthest coaster away from the entrance is probably Saw

The furthest ride from the entrance is Inferno. But I think other coasters get longer queues anyway so it probably isn't worth doing Inferno first. Just don't go to Swarm first I think.

I've noticed, however, that Inferno bafflingly always has a huge queue whenever I go to Thorpe or check queue times on the Thorpe Park app; it's often got the biggest queue on park later in the day (nearly always 60+ minutes), in spite of it being one of Thorpe's highest throughput coasters. Is it just very popular or something, as I'll admit that a high throughput coaster like Inferno consistently getting such a huge queue does baffle me a bit if not?

I remember the only time I ever rode Inferno on a short queue was when I started on it, interestingly; both it and Stealth had incredibly short queues first thing in the morning. Maybe Inferno & Stealth would be logical places to start; what do you guys think? I do actually really like Inferno, so I'd certainly like to get on it at some point.

Nemesis at Alton can often get to a near rolling dispatch, I don't think I've ever come close to having that with inferno.

If you actually want to do them - Saw or Colossus are the two coasters to hit first. Or at least whichever one decides to open on time. You do actually need to be at the front of the crowd when the rope drops though.

If, like me, you aren't especially bothered about either of those two rides... Stealth first is the one. You can easily get three rides on it before a queue builds up. Then I'd hit Inferno and Detonator.
