Last trip of the season for me tommorow. I wasn't going to bother but I saw how quiet it's been and couldn't resist. As big of a fan I am of the smiler I for some reason aren't bothered at all that it's shut. Maybe just shows how much I've been and how many times I've been on it this year. Would love to go to the fireworks one year I've never been before so I need to make that a priority next year

The Smiler has been off of solo fast track since about the 25th October now. TH13TEEN fast track might have sold out.
For today? I doubt it. Maybe for the fireworks it has. Maybe they're not selling any for these quiet off peak daysThe Smiler has been off of solo fast track since about the 25th October now. TH13TEEN fast track might have sold out.

I remember the thirteen fast track being unavailable throughout June too if I remember correctly, this was when I was going on a Saturday with a platinum fast track to celebrate my birthday and sure enough the fast track queue for it was pretty much deserted all day.The Smiler has been off of solo fast track since about the 25th October now. Obviously that's unrelated to the issues it's having now though.

Pretty quiet today as expected ... Here are some hourly capacities for your spreadsheet @Matt N
Oblivion - 662 - throughout less than that due to lack of people
Rita - 495 - worst ops I've ever seen
Nemesis - 1128
Wicker Man - 540
Spinball - 685
Amazing how some people genuinely don't know how to navigate around the park with the Sky Ride closed.

Cheers for the numbers @Rick; out of interest, was Wicker Man on a lower number of trains or something? On 3 trains, 540pph seems oddly low… I often get around 1,000pph or slightly over when it’s on 3 trains, and I even got 820pph on 2 on my recent trip, so I’ll admit that the lowness of that particular figure does surprise me.Pretty quiet today as expected ... I think was operating three trains, they were just taking their time to get them out of the station, so much so that we watched the pre-show 1 and a half times, before the crowd in front moved far enough to get out of the room.Cheers for the numbers @Rick; out of interest, was Wicker Man on a lower number of trains or something? Whenever you determine a capacity number like the above, it's pretty statistically insignificant over the course of an operating day. They vary wildly, it goes without saying.
Rita was incredibly hard to watch. Easily one of the worst Alton crews I've ever seen.

Rita ops on all 4 of my visits this year have also been pretty much a shambles. The ride hadn't gone down, but it must have been at least 4 minutes between dispatch.
Wicker man was running on 3 trains today, so I'm quite surprised at how low that throughput figure is. It did seem to take longer today but I think that was because there wasn't many people waiting so half the time they were waiting for people to come out the pre show room to fill the trainCheers for the numbers @Rick; out of interest, was Wicker Man on a lower number of trains or something? I don't doubt that was happening, certainly was on Oblivion for a time but on Wicker Man the airgates had four or six people behind each.Wicker man was running on 3 trains today, so I'm quite surprised at how low that throughput figure is. I like the pre show but I do think it has a big effect on the throughputI don't doubt that was happening, certainly was on Oblivion for a time but on Wicker Man the airgates had four or six people behind each.

This feels like a strange choice for a family park?

Dont know if this helps, but i managed to find out why the Smiler, Hex, and River Rapids are closed. I asked some of the Staff when I went, they said Its because their manufacturers are all central European, meaning its harder and more expensive for Merlin to get spare parts over here ever since Brexit. Hope this had helped out a bit.

As has been said, that's because of the ongoing driver and staff shortage which is affecting virtually everywhere in Europe.I'm surprised its taken nearly 4 weeks for a part to arrive to towers for the smiler. That's a long time

Well the only closure Towers have officially acknowledged is CRR, plus there's a fixed (permanent) sign outside the entrance too.We don't actually know the reasons for closure do we?
...only rumours.
Unless the Towers have come forward to actually make a statement.
As in a permanent “closed” sign at the entrance to CRR’s queue line? Interesting.Well the only closure Towers have officially acknowledged is CRR, plus there's a fixed (permanent) sign outside the entrance too.
