Controversial Alton Towers Opinions

Was just going to say that. I thought Galactica was meh but I had a really good couple of rides on it on Saturday, especially in the dark where you felt like you were going on a proper adventure flying through the trees. It was never designed to be a thrill ride really. It’s great at what it’s designed for, which is to emulate flying.
 
Realised I'd never put one of my most controversial opinions in this thread.
I don't like Hex or really any mad-houses. They make me feel really ill. Not sure why as I know it's an illusion but ever since I was a kid I've never gotten on with them. So basically, I barely ever ride Hex as it makes me feel ill.

That's completely valid mate as they can be quite nauseating for some people. I can handle Hex fine but my sister doesn't like it at all. :)

It's always a bit odd for me because I have a high G-force intolerance and no other ride type makes me feel sick really. Not sure what it is about mad-houses but they always make me feel ill.
 
I know I'll probably get slaughtered alive for this, but as someone who rates coasters for fun and rerideability, RMT is actually my 6th favourite of the 10 coasters on park! I just find it such a fun ride, and bits of it, like the helix into the tunnel, don't feel like they should be on a family coaster!
 
1) Controversial opinion, I hate The World of David Walliams to bits. Its only aimed at children, so there really nothing the teens and adults can enjoy. I know what you're gonna say, that being there are areas in the park dedicated to teens and adults, I just expected a more divided area for all ages, something for everyone to enjoy, not just toddlers and 7 year olds Gangsta Granny the Ride just feeling boring with its 2D cutouts and over-reliance on Screens, though I really like the addition of smell Pods in it.

2) I would like Duel to be reverted back to the HH. Surprised? Probably not. Lets get this one done with shall we. It just seems more fitting for this opinion to be brought up here rather on Duels, time to say goodbye forum, since i know that not many in this forum don't want The HH back and would rather have both alliterations (Duel and the HHs remnants) completely gutted out for a new Dark ride.

The HH just seemed to have something special to it I can't put my finger on, that no other ride I can think of has ever replicated. Maybe it's my appreciation of Keith Sparks skill put onto the Attraction with Wardley and Rex Studios amazing scenery paintwork? Maybe it's the theatrical props and theming with lovely UV and Tungsten lighting? Who knows?

3) People who want The next SW in the gardens. No, just no, sorry. The Gardens are beautiful to walk around and offer a welcoming break from the park itself. It been there for hundreds of years, so it's has quite the historic value, just like the Towers Themselves. And it's one of the most beautiful Pieces of scenery I've ever seen in the UK.

4) Rita is a great ride, TO LOOK AT. I've only ever ridden it once, that being on the back row back in 2017.

They do from a General Publics perspective though. Imagine heading towards the gardens, then seeing a giant ditch or a huge steel structure within the valley behind the gardens...

The whole idea of it is just silly tbh.
 
I don't think you would see that much really if it is done properly. Would be less obvious than the current Skyride cabins as the coaster should be lower than the treeline, whereas the Skyride is above it.
Also the coaster would be to the east of the Skyride.

Does anyone know how they got permission for the Skyride as it goes above the treeline?

Agreed, you wouldn’t be able to see much, if anything, of a cross valley coaster from all but the very far edge of the gardens, and it definitely wouldn’t encroach on the gardens at all, they’d have zero chance of getting planning permission for that.

The idea that a cross valley coaster is some enthusiast pipe dream simply isn’t true. They went for it in the 2000s with the wrong ride type that was too bulky support wise and too noisy, and we know for a fact they were considering it in the 2010s. It’s something the park do want to do, it’s just getting the type of ride and timing right to get permission.
