Could it be Mack have offered YULLBE to Merlin as a free trial or at a reduced rate to see how it goes? After all, Merlin are spending a bit of money with Mack at the moment.

Could well be a trial to see what the take up and feedback is like with a view to introducing Yullbe to Towers or other Merlin attractions/Midways if successful.

I cannot conceive of the minds who thought this VR crap was a sensible way to spend money whilst it’s glaringly obvious that there are so many more important things that need investment. 1 of many examples - Merlin are clearly happy to have a flat ride on show which resembles the Ferris wheel at Chernobyl in its current state.

Oh, and this thing has an up charge too!
Get ready for SW9 folks, just £15 extra.

The thing is

Like others have said, I bet this is a freebie or a very cheap temp deal to see how it goes.

If it’s popular (aka they make money) it will probably stay or rolled out elsewhere i guess. Which is a bit different to spending millions on a new ride.

I’ve done the VR at EP (but not YULLBE) and it’s certainly the best around, so at least they’re got with someone who knows what they are doing.

I don’t actually have a problem with this at all, to be honest.

It’s not in lieu of a new attraction, it’s pretty inoffensive, it offers something unique for those willing to pay up, it makes the park a bit of extra money, it ticks the VR box without butchering capacity on a major ride… what’s not to like? Or at least, what’s wrong with it?

I’m going up on the weekend. Weather forecast is very hot. I love Alton in the sun but I think I’ll be buying a lot of fast track tickets this weekend so we are not standing in it for hours. Needs to be some shade in the queue lines for the summer months.

Mind you could be worse…. I could be staying in the hotels, or worse still a statgazing shed in this heat with no air con or windows!!

By all accounts I think they are prepared for a BIG attendance day today. Good to see them planning for the crowds and making adjustments to opening/closing times.

Good luck to all at the park today!
Doesn't look bad compared to previous days
