Scarefest 2022

I have a question: Do you get to pick the time of your maze bookings? So for example, I would want to book Freak Show at night.

You certainly do! Just be aware that the queues for them get bigger in the evening.

That's great thank you ;) I plan to do all indoor mazes during the day and use the night for rides. We're staying for two days so hopefully we can get it all in.

Also, keep in mind that if you get the multi-maze ticket you get a window of time in which to complete all the mazes, which I think is usually 90 mins. Say for example your first maze was at 5pm, you'd have to be queuing for your last maze before 6:30pm (they scan your tickets as you enter the queue line). You can do them in any order though.

Yeah that's what we planned to do. I'm aware of the time slot. Does Alton still make people go through the mazes in a conga line or has that been scrapped?

They're letting bigger groups in now, so if you go when they're busy then yes it will be a conga line XD.

From my past experiences at the last 4 scarefests the time slot dosnt matter at all and you can go in the que at any time. definitely been there before when I’ve had to wait an hour for one maze makeing it not physically possible to do all 3 in the 90 minute window.

Is there any construction updates? Anything that could hint towards what is returning or not? I'm not local so I cant go see for myself haha.

I would guess the Attic and mine tours are still all there and have never been removed. You could probably open them tomorrow if you wanted.

Darkest depths has had its pre show shipping container put back, and it’s had a new roof and theming added. It looked pretty much finished to me.

No signs of anything where the freak show was.

Hopefully, the line-up will be announced in the next couple of weeks.

It does feel a little stale to me and I would've loved two new mazes (whether that's 2/4 replaced or 1/4 replaced and the addition of a fifth) BUT it's one of those where the budget is probably constrained by upper aboves and/or resources in Ents are stretched. Secondly, how many visitors will feel the same as us. 5%? 25%?

Guess the decision is based on several other factors including the proportion of Scarefest visitors that are repeat guests year-on-year, yearly attendance at the event, and number maze tickets sold / their capacity.

I do hope it's TJ that goes though, as I've said before, I think the others still offer something.

Two new mazes would have been brilliant, one in the Towers to reignite the Sub Species 'go it alone' concept (and because the Towers is the best location for mazes) and another in FV to give that side of the park a bit of the Scarefest atmosphere.

Can't wait to see the announcement! (Prey it's a mash-up of the iconic mazes over the years including the original, 2002 TOTT).

I'm just gonna throw out a few maze themes/ideas I've thought of. Going from least likely to most likely.

-A space journey gone wrong. Lots of sirens, airblasts, injured passengers, some alien creature. Maybe themed to Galactica. Most suitable location imo would be the N:ST building.

-An outdoor maze themed to a haunted forest or graveyard, (separate from Garden Lights). Not specifically themed to Thirteen, but a possibility.

Now the most likely idea:

-An underground facility/prison where all the classic characters from Scarefest are held, (The Hamble Twins, clowns, the Ministry of Joy patients, the Skin Snatchers, etc). It would replace AVMT and take place in the same location. I think this is the most likely concept as it fits the anniversary.

What do you guys think?

Honestly mate this is something I would pay for. Especially the final concept. Strip and gut AVMT and Sub Species and make a scare experience like no other

That’s the thing we just don’t know - the only thing we can 100% rule out is something virus related (for obvious reasons) a la Project 42

I don't think that's the case. Virus related fiction is still all the rage at the moment. Since 2020 the Resdident Evil series has pumped out 2 games, announced another, a movie and an entire Netflix series.

I've thought of a name and description for that anniversary maze.

OPERATION: SCAREFEST

15 years ago, Operation: Scarefest was formed to capture and contain the horrors that terrorized the park during the Halloween season. From the murderous Hamble Twins to the Skin-Snatching hillbillies, Operation: Scarefest imprisoned every one of deep underground. Putting an end to their years of fright, never to be seen again...

Until now!

15 years later, fuelled by the spirit of Scarefest, the monsters have overpowered the guards and broken free! Experience the spine-chilling terror, and maybe even a hint of nostalgia, as you come face-to-face with Scarefest characters old and new. Then, breathe a sigh of relief and look back on all the great memories...

If you make it out alive, that is!

Looks like The Attic is gone then, or being relocated?

Hope this doesn’t mean FS:TJ is staying…
Not necessarily, last year you could look through that stairwell from one of the halls into the Banqueting Hall and it was in the same state. You couldn't walk through it as it was fenced off because they were still fitting the stained glass window. Here's TPWW's video from last summer:

I suspect it's the other way round. If the Attic was gone, then the upstairs of the Towers would likely have reopened as well.

The state things are in at the moment is pretty much the default for how the park have envisioned for how the Towers should be outside of Scarefest, with the upstairs portion of the Attic left in place, but the downstairs clear for 'heritage tours'.
