Might it be done with showing how popular rides have been throughout the day? I'm aware there are other ways to measure that but the scanning gives an accurate reading at the end of the day I suppose.

No idea why else they are bothering unless it's because people have found ways to sneak into the park which has been known to happen.

The previous turnstiles recorded visitation in the same way. They even had counters back in the day. The only additional information it can show is how any one person visits the park throughout the day.

Even if they are collecting that type of data, I have very little faith that they have the sophistication to analyse and use it. Plus, they could have gotten that same information from the previous wristband system.

It seems like a system they’ve implemented as an interim measure when they weren’t sure whether they’d keep or permanently discontinue the non-rider pass. It’s just stayed longer than intended without the reintroduction of that pass. It is a massive inconvenience and it needs rid of, at least until there’s a real reason for its use.

Pleasure beach have just cut their 3rd late night riding event in a row to a 9pm close.

Less than 48 hours before the event !!

Meanwhile , Amanda is currently bombarding Twitter with photos of the hot ice show. 35 separate hot ice show tweets in as many minutes. I am tempted to reply to them all saying that nobody gives a sh*t !!

I am once again shaking my head in frustration at the misleading tactics Pleasure Beach are using to con their customers.

Yesterday, I booked two e-tickets for the weekend, as a 10pm close was advertised for Saturday on their opening hours and booking pages. I went back on today and unsurprisingly; it has been changed to 9pm.

It is very underhand what they are doing, advertising a 10pm close to get bookings in and then changing it to 9pm at the last minute. This, combined with the '£5 off if you book 7 days in advance' deal means that most people will have already booked by the time PB change it.

They also sent an email yesterday advertising 10pm close for Sat. The day after sending this email (today), the closing time has been adjusted to 9pm.

This is so transparent; PB are misleading people to get them to book, then changing the hours after they have got the bookings in. Yes, there's T&C's, but there's also decency and not treating your customers like the proverbial.

I was already struggling to find the enthusiasm to visit, and this has put me off, I have cancelled my e-tickets and hotel. The park at the minute just is not worth a second of anyone's time in my view when they are doing this and staying silent on Valhalla.

Despite her tweets, there are still about 95% of seats available for tonight's Hot Ice show.
A few more posh seats have gone for Saturday night, but 95% of the cheaper seats are still unsold, pretty much all of them, apart from the front row.
Clearly cutting ride operations to subsidise Mandy's vanity project.

It's very poor CS and practice to change the opening hours so close to the date but I imagine they do this by monitoring the bookings they have. It's still 11 hours of operations too which knocks the socks off what Towers and other rival parks are doing the same day so it's not the worst crime in the world for me.

Why anyone would want to spend 12hours at PB is beyond me, especially if you've been lots of times. I'm usually ready to go home by 5pm on every visit as it's fairly easy to get around and do the major rides.

I do wonder how much money they waste on hot ice every year? Surely it can't be making a profit, especially as it's never full (thanks @rob666 for the statistics which I am basis this statement on. Hopefully I've spelt everything right in your honour and so I don't get told off again) and I imagine the only night that's fairly busy, being opening night will likely mostly be full of people who haven't paid but are there on invite. I think it's clear that hot ice should go as soon as possible and they should use the money the save to build something and actually market it for a change.

I think Mandy should sell the place to someone who wants to run the park properly.

Edit: She can strike a deal with the buyers where she keeps the Hot Ice show running with her own money.

Lacking capitalisation on Hot Ice, but otherwise very good, keep it up.
I bet they must lose a million quid a year on it, at least, all those staff, dresses, and training, then the stage/sound/lighting staff as well.
All the seat info is out there on the Beach booking site, you can see the individual seat vacancies when you start the booking process...so many vacant seats.

I very much doubt the Thompson's would ever sell up completely. Too much family history , pride and stubbornness!

I suppose if things got really desperate then they may consider bringing in someone else to make the decisions for them but even that is unlikely.

I once heard Amanda say on camera that she learned something very important from Doris Thompson.... That the public don't always know what they want and they sometimes need educating.

That is a very dangerous opinion to hold. And one I am 100% sure that Amanda holds to this day. Basically, she is right and it doesn't matter what the punters want.

I’m not sure I buy the T&Cs excuse. They can write anything they want in there but that doesn’t mean it’s either enforceable or lawful.

I suspect they may well have known in advance that they weren’t going to open all the way to 10pm, both because that’s what they’ve done already now on previous events this year and also they changed the wording in some of their earlier Facebook and Twitter posts to open until “late” rather than 10pm.

We know people who are flying here just for the late night opening. The fact that the park have sneaked the earlier closing time only a couple of days before the event is underhanded, cynical and pretty contemptible.

Report the misleading email to advertising standards. Commerical email marketing comes under their remit.

Amanda's off again spamming Twitter with hot ice tweets !!!

Anyone would have thought that she doesn't own an amusement park !!!

I’m glad I don’t use social media. That would make me smash my phone through the TV. I guess she doesn’t realise that 99.99% of amusement park visitors don’t give a monkeys about ice shows, and judging by that photo of how empty the arena is on a weekend, it seems the general public don’t either. Flatten it and put a ride or restaurant in its place
