Tbh, the tower is very old and the structure was only repainted not long ago, the weather hasnt been kind to the old girl, so much steel has rusted away and become so thin in places, it does make you wonder how long she will stay ?

The tower with major steel work upgrades will also look very odd

The Tower takes about five years to paint, and it is done every decade or so...recently repainted in red lead, last one in gold.
Dodgy steel is replaced with every repaint, and was last done (around the base and roof of the main building) three years ago.
Repainting is started roughly every decade.
I used to drink with one of the stickmen in Fleetwood...mate of my uncles, absolutely crazy bloke.

Every piece of steel was replaced bit by bit in the 1920s and they continue to do so iteratively now. It's Grade 1 listed, it's not going to get pulled down.

Paint technology has improved massively, you'd think that would help.

What sorta price do they tend to drop to in Black Friday? £145 seems a bit steep to me compared to Drayton and Merlin

Slightly off topic. But has anyone ever done a Pleasure Flight from Blackpool airport?

They must be popular, as noted at the weekend there was a constant flurry of little planes buzzing around down the promenade and over the Pleasure Beach.

I did try to look up operators whilst having a beer in the Velvet Coaster, but got bamboozled by the number of results a Google search brought up.

I did about 15 years ago, it was a good experience but the weather wasn't fantastic. I'll see if I can dig out the photos of BPB.

A lot of the planes that fly out of there are amateur flyers, rather than pleasure flights. It seems to be something a lot of the old boys at our Blackpool office are in to.

Would love to see these aerial pics

I see they are selling some frankly bizarre ride parts online. Big One Arrow wheels with clock in the middle. £150-175. @rob666 didn't you pay around £70 for your 12" Big One wheel, then a few quid to get the clock insert put in? They don't even have the outer wheel stuff on (urethane?).

I have no idea where abouts on the Wild Mouse this 'sign' came from. Any ideas?

Classic BPB, actual money for old rope:

and my personal favourite: rusting, rotting Grand National fence anyone? That could have been taken from anywhere!

So, any takers for this latest round of skip worthy tat? 35 items for sale, and only 15 of them state the price. "Please contact us for price enquiries" Er, how about you just tell us how much you want for the bleeding things?

Park nerd: "I'd like a length of sweaty knackered Valhalla boat rope please. How much is that?"
BPB staff: "How long is a piece of string?"

But at least they spelled 'brake' correctly this time @shakey

My wheel, eight spoker with "arrow", and urethane, was sixty quid, plus whatever it cost in strong lager to get my wife to agree.
It was a lovely souvenir of a nice night out on the Beach after about thirty years together, a rare treat nowadays with the loss of the diamond pass...
My clock, at about a tenner, is virtually identical to that, on spring grip inserts...and it is on the shelf behind the tv on blu tack blobs, looking stunning...
My dozen mouse wheels and assorted scrap are my only pension pot.

Ah yes, it's a, ummm... uhhhh...

The Beach has just sent me a Christmas present suggestion...
Advance tickets for Journey To Hell next year.
Usual Beach weirdness.

Bizarre. Just what everyone wants. Something they can't use for another 10 months. The only thing I like about halloween at BPB is watching the werewolf scare punters from his weird bike from Crevettes balcony. Also hearing Smells Like Teen Spirit blasting from his stereo was a change from the usual modern kiddy pop the park only ever seems to play

Another part of the track to walk and another price hike I guess! It is worth doing though. I 'only' paid £50 when I did it a few years ago.
I've never done it as it always something I forget about until all the convenient dates have sold. I've already booked 2 trips to Blackpool for 2023 so know I can make certain dates already. Only want to do the lift hill part as well, going up the other bits don't really interest me.
