Drayton Manor Park

It’s actually really exciting when you consider that three new coasters are opening at major UK parks in 2024. I know that two of them are family coasters but it’s rare for this much development to be happening at UK parks in one year. The UK theme park industry has been pretty stagnant for years but the park do finally seem to be upping their game a bit.

Don’t forget the two new coasters opening just over the water at Emerald Park as well. It’s a great year for UK & Ireland rides.

All we need is M&D's to get taking over by some company who's competent and then there would be much rejoicing across the British Isles! :p

Techically five new coasters if you count Legoland as two, plus the replacement Nemesis, then there is Drayton and Thorpe.

Judging from the footers this is my rough prediction of the layout. I'm guessing from recent track photos that the ride has a dark ride section as there are powered coaster track sections spotted. The footers highlighted in red look like a switch track, which suggests that a portion of the layout will be repeated twice. And not labelled in this image is probably some sort of launch from the station building after the preshow.
Looks a bit short tbh

I might be imagining this but is there an annual pass that combines Drayton and Paulton's? I can't find anything online so i'm probably mistaken but i swear at least one of them had a shared scheme with another theme park.

Think Drayton has a shared pass with West Midlands Safari Park and Pleasurewood Hills, as they're all owned by the Looping Group. Paulton's is just on its own.

The platinum pass for Drayton includes Safari park only. Unless they have changed this, we are only allowed to go to Drayton and safari park under our current platinum pass.

They were thinking of offering 20% off Pleasure wood hills tickets if you owned a platinum pass.
I can imagine that would be an attractive offer for some however for me because I live directly in between both DMR and Wmsp , 20 percent would not be incentive enough for me to travel to pleasure wood hills as it would be a 3 and a half hour car journey. Thankyou for letting me know though , I tend to only skim and miss a lot haha

Some better quality shots from said YouTube video.... good riddance to it, serving as a reminder of what once was. Now take the other turret down. I think this area is more than likely one of the next likely investment areas for the park. So not too bothered with something that would quite clearly be removed anyway, getting removed earlier.

It does highlight the shoddy state it must be in now however. It is about time they ripped the whole thing down. As much as I loved the ride, keeping it in this state makes as much sense a blind man trying to point out his favorite nudey lady videos to you.

I bet the wooden frame inside the second turret is rotten to the core too. I am fairly certain looking at the photos, that it would have been wood and not metal. A bit of a bit of wind and all this comes crashing down, they need to count themselves lucky this did not happen in open season, we get some ferocious storms in summer too.

It is crazy to think that the brickwork seen above, has not see the light of day since 1989 though!! I was running around in nappy's.

I would be very surprised if this doesn't signal the imminent removal of the other side of the entrance turrets, it has to be in a similar state as this one was.

I wonder what they may do from a temporary presentation perspective, as it does not exactly look great currently with the brick exposed, in one of the most central park areas. Maybe some temporary painted timber to cover the brick work? The carpenter's are on site right now after all working on the new area buildings.

In what is set to be perhaps one of the biggest years in Drayton Manor's history perhaps? I doubt they will want something looking so 'unfinished' where it is.

Take this with a pinch of salt, but according to Lofty from CoasterForce, the new trains on Shockwave are rumoured to be ART Engineering trains, similar to those found on Cannibal and Wicked at Lagoon: https://coasterforce.com/forums/thr...year-plan-2022-2026.45928/page-3#post-1165927

These trains have lap bars, and are 4 across.

If this rumour is true, these trains sound like a great choice!

Interesting!

On the face of it that seems great although slightly nervous about inversions with only lap bars but i'm probably haunted by Thunder Looper.
