Drayton Manor Park

Hi all, not sure if this is the right thread for this but by any chance does anyone have a rough idea of when Drayton start hiring for ride staff for next season?

That’s the full time job offering. The main season temporary jobs will be put on there roughly the beginning of Jan and usually if you do a good job they ask you back next season.

Shockwave and the new coaster will both be 1.2m in 2024 right? Will they both be open for start of season or will it be staggered?

Have never been to Drayton before but looking forward to taking my son there for the first time next year :D

It’s been said it will be open for the start of the main 2024 season and as the kids finish for Easter on the 22nd March can see the park opening the following day.
Yes shockwave will be 1.2m tall next year but nothing been said about the new coaster.

Someone on Drayton Talk took the Thomas train to the Zoo and noticed what looked like pieces of Pirate Adventure lift hill cut up in pieces.

Now I’m sad that the ride system is been removed but happy they got plans to use the building area as the next big project for the park.

It's not surprising they are removing what is now an ancient and abandoned ride system.

If anything new was to go in there it was always going to be a brand new ride system. You don't take chances with things that were more than likely poorly maintained alot of their life, not when people will be riding it.

That said. The picture is hard to make out. It doesn't look like the lift hill though. I have no doubt the ride system is being removed though, it was falling apart 15 years ago.

I guess this could kind of still be defined as Thomas Land since they have the Knapfofd station and the little Thomas model railway building in this section of the park?

They’ve moved everything back into the main Thomas land now leaving the zoo containing Spencer’s playground and Mrs kindleys cafe. The railway is now in the exit station for winston and my money is on Terrance returning back to its former spot located behind the driving licence building.

Completely forgot about this new coaster - it's been said many times, but there sure is a bunch of new hardware in the UK for 2024!

Only been twice - last visit in 2018 was alright. With the new Viking stuff and whatever else is new, how improved are things - would all that, plus the new ride and the revitalised Shockwave warrant a visit next year?

I'd say so.

My first visit was October 2020 when the place was looking worse for wear (annoyingly Shockwave was down as well)

Visited again in September 2021 and they'd completely refreshed the area around Shockwave and the rapids with Adventure Cove.

Vikings is a nicely done area as well with the new rides complimenting the existing coaster.

From what I've seen online there putting some decent effort into refreshing the area and rides around the new coaster area to match the new theme.

Where has Terence’s Driving School been, and why/ when was it moved from Thomas Land? This one has completely passed me by.
Terence driving school was moved to the farm end during the closed season 2010/11 when Blue Mountain Engines was installed on the site and that also moved during the closed season of 2014/15 when the expansion opened.
This area was a smoking area for Thomas land to they made the whole area smoke free and it’s been closed off since.

I'm a really big fan of Showdowns repainted look!! Its got a lot more life to with than how it used to look all faded and red personally.

Good shout out about the logo taken off the facade as well. Though it was most likely taken off to simply paint the wall it was hung on, it'll be interesting to see if anything happens. I was never a fan of the 2D logo it had. It looked pretty dull compared to Golden Nuggets logo, which was 3D and had colour to it. It really popped out!

I’m still absolutely staggered that; 1) it hasn’t gone vertical yet and; 2) the layout hasn’t leaked. Anywhere. I can’t remember a time in recent memory where a coaster has been kept this well concealed this late in the day. It’s very impressive from Drayton. At this rate, Christmas stuff will be over and they can keep it almost entirely under wraps during its major construction phase. Swines! 🤣

I’m also dying to know what’s happening to Shockwave and the extent of the re-themeing etc.
