I reckon they did that because they didn't want people crowding to watch it, understandably.

Usually the least windy time of day is often given as the reason, to prevent dust spread.
But I think they just like waking people up.

SFGA have been getting some flack from fans for posting this tone-deaf post on social media today. It has apparently now been taken down.


There still appears to have been no official acknowledgement of the big Ka-boom today.

Amazing to see it come down, a real end of an era. Sort of feels right somehow it was blown up now instead of Falcons Flight taking its record later this year.

I literally had the same thought after watching the video!

What I find crazy is how on hitting the ground almost every track piece breaks away like it's made of matchsticks. I don't know if they did something to preweaken the joints but assuming they didn't it's remarkable it just fell apart as it did.

Yeah it was so satisfying to watch it shatter apart upon impact with the ground.
