[2025] Toxicator: New Forbidden Valley Suspended Top Spin

ahh the “how dare anyone say something positive about a new ride because of all the other bad things” post.

Yes the lack of rides particularly for the under 1.4m guests is disgusting and it’s been and continues to be discussed in multiple places but folk can still talk positively about positive things surely?
Or the "how dare anyone say something negative about a new ride because it's temporarily taken my mind off all the other bad things" post? Based on likewise presumptions of course.

Yes they can, to answer your question. And they have loud and clear, which is great on a free opinion forum (you used to defend this?). A mix of opinions is great. It's what I like and something you usually advocate (but not at this moment in time for some reason?).

I'm struggling to see your point beyond trying to control the narrative with a highly presumptuous "a usual suspect doesn't agree and hasn't fallen into line! Get 'im lads" reaction?

Thing is on the Internet for balance views...it's either opinions that are either heaven or hell, no middle ground. Come to think of it, can't remember when there were balance views on this forum.

And so it begins. Exclusive benefits for “influencers” that absolutely won’t sway them into giving positive coverage. Nope. Not gonna happen.
Nothing is beginning, only continuing. Every company engages in this kind of marketing, including Universal, Disney, Drayton Manor Park and Zoo, and current darlings of the UK industry, Paulton's Park.

I've attended more press previews, and received more schwag, than I can shake my tail feathers at, from the tech industry.

The one critique I'd have is that not enough influencers disclose the invitations, or benefits, that they receive in a meaningful way. This is explained by a lack of professional training, or even widely adopted and agreed upon standards for disclosure.

I always feel like for the days they go out for their preview days or whatever they should be using the #gifted hashtag. ASA clamp down on it on Instagram and the like so it should be at the very least parity for YouTube as well.

The actual standards are here if anyone’s seriously bored https://www.asa.org.uk/static/790d2e01-e3f8-4fea-b3c99ef91a9f04dc/Influencerguidance2023v4-FINAL.pdf

I know some people in marketing (not at alton though, a differnt company), and it is an interesting one.

you can argue that Alton would only give the opportunity to positive creators, but that isn't really the case it is more complicated as the less influencers you go with the less people are covering it and the less people wanting to see it. consider TPWW they have a massive following and if you don't invite them, then you would loose out on that following from knowing about it more, if Alton clamped down on every negative view, they would quickly loose influencers and the remaining influencers will not be trusted.

there is also the flip side, TPWW can now film, edit and release their vlog for opening day, allowing more views as it is more relevant, but if they don't get that they could loose out on many views encouraging them to be more positive. although credibility is everything if you are seen lying about stuff, then it will harm your reputation and less people will watch you.

The person I know essentially said that some influencers may get products later (similar to not being invited to this) if they were too unfair with their criticism, or they are actively defying some rules (for instance if they release information you have sent them way too early).

the problem is how you define what "fair" is, normally it is for when it is very clear bias, or blatantly ignoring information, for instance if they get told that a wall will be painted before it opens, but in their vlog they go on a huge rant about how the wall isn't painted.

I’m impressed with what I’ve seen theming wise so far I’ve gotta say! If having the gondola minimally themed extends the lifespan of the ride, then I think that’s an okay compromise to be honest. There is enough around the area that the ride still looks impressive for any spectators, and it’s not something you can see from on-ride anyway.

I do hope that there are some smoke effects to go along with the lighting, as well as a synchronised soundtrack. But other than that, I think the park have done a pretty good job and I’m looking forward to getting on it in a couple of weeks!

I probably agree, if less physical theming on the structure makes it easier to maintain that probably makes sense. However no reason to not add paint, patterns, stickers, weathering, AV extras etc to add some more detail.

As has been said a sensible addition, I’m surprised it’s not covered though
