It's not even difficult to imagine what would go here. Just get rid of Walliams world and property invest in that area, which has been needed for years. It's such a forgotten area of the park.No more IP’s
I question Merlin magic thinking making highly paid people. Meant to be these creative brains - marketing experts
And they come up with what ….. er ….. let’s use someone else’s idea

This isn’t a Merlin issue for even a theme park issue anymore, this seems to be the global trend for a lot of media nowadays. IPs reduce the risk of failure. With an original product you run the risk of it bombing completely, whereas largely, having an IP reduces your risk of it being a disaster and is more likely to be disappointing or mediocre if it doesn’t work out.No more IP’s

IPs always have been prevalent within contemporary society but in the past 10-15 years there’s being an increased awareness from the public that IP can be slightly lazy. There have been times where the IP entering new mediums has been a success against the expectations of the public and adds to the medium of that IP (The Lego Movie and Spider-Verse, for example). However these cases remain few and far between. It takes a labour of love from the creators to do an IP justice, and if you’re John Burton from MMM, you have a certain amount of detachment from the IPs you’re told to work with.
Ultimately, any business investment is a risk, and businesses would like some security to it, rather than going with an unproven concept!

@Bert2theSpark totally agree with you.
Imagination and innovation is being stifled for short term gain.
Close everything down I say. Let us be brain washed

The Curse is a prime example where John Burton said an IP was considered in the early stages at concept but they favored an original story and with this they succeeded.
Sir Alton with a classy steam punk and magical
Theme would work very well here at the back end of the park. With keeping the theme lighter, then Dark forest should be The Alton Ruins meets toxic gardens and really expand on this with large rubble like structures and crazy colorful planting, maybe some creature type monsters and giant Venus fly traps etc.

yes I like this idea, they could retheme ganster granny to a shooting ride (the ride system is only a few years old and there are no alternative shooting rides to replace duel and I feel like the type of ride could be well used there), and build a new dark ride (something like symbolica maybe) along the back wall (near maybe replace 4d theatre) and have it exploring the towers. The Curse is a prime example where John Burton said an IP was considered in the early stages at concept but they favored an original story and with this they succeeded.

Not quite.Made a sexual gesture before watershed as well![]()
He made the gestures during the taping of a show which when it airs at Christmas will be edited and go out before the watershed. The gesture would never get shown before the watershed.
At every taping of a show things will happen that can't be shown on TV, that is one of the editors jobs to make the show suitable for its intended audience. It won't be the first time something like that will have happened at a taping and won't be the last. Its just that an audience member tweeted about what they saw at the taping and the fact a Nazi salute was included then meant its been picked up as a news story.

I wish I was kidding, but apparently Bear Grylls was spotted in London hanging out with Farage and one of his cronies.
I don’t think Merlin properly considered the political risk they were taking when they signed when they agreed to use these men’s names for their attractions. But then again they let Derren Brown spend +£30 million on an anti-fracking campaign…

With all these things surrounding Walliams at this moment in time, I'm still feeling that Towers are looking ever more likely to retheme the area as part of Project Horizon to wash their hands of TWODW and kill two birds with one stone by getting rid of a failed IP and getting a much needed big ride for that area of the park which needs it.

How family friendly, maybe practicing for some new welcome ritual for guests entering TWODW.

Hopefully Walliams continues to disgrace his name and then it forces Merlin’s hands on that area.
He has already disgraced his name, but money talks and Merlin won't change anything until they are ready, no matter what the contoversy.

Be careful what you wish for. It could be the case that they are forced to do a before due cheapo refit of the area in isolation which could suck funds from the potential Project Horizon scheme and even push that project back. All hypothetical, obviously. You just never know.Hopefully Walliams continues to disgrace his name and then it forces Merlin’s hands on that area.
