Scarefest 2025

It sounds like Compound is going to see some changes this year, hence why it’s not been announced yet. Perhaps it’s the same with Burial Grounds, when Mine Tours became Tiny’s it was treated as a new attraction.

There’s been no noticeable setup for a scarezone elsewhere in the park, and when I visited back in After Dark, Burial Grounds was fully setup next to the Wicker Man queue.

Some Cameras have been added by Rit's Tunnel and some lights that's been a Scare Zone before

I can't believe Altonville Mine Tours is back again 🤣I've never done the Tiny's Revenge version because the other mazes were too similar in the combi ticket, so therefore I've never done COMPOUND either. This might be my first year since 2022 actually doing them because they will all be new to me.

To be fair I said last year I would rather have less mazes but better quality like we used to back in the day, but definitely disappointed to see Mine Tours return for its 10th year. It used to be an amazing maze back in the day but it’s just the same old maze now, and the addition of Tiny’s revenge just made it worse in my opinion.

I’m guessing the new maze will be 13 or dark forest themed as that’s what the promo video seems to suggest, and we’ll get a new scare zone, but unsure atm where this will be, as other than the path at the back of dark forest we haven’t seen any other activity on park.

Is Burial Grounds likely to be back? I'm all for a new scare zone, as long as it's in addition to Burial Grounds and not in place of it

I’d like to think so what with them using images from Burial Grounds on the Scarefest section of the website. From what I’ve seen it’s also still mostly in situ, but I guess that alone doesn't confirm it’s returning because they could just decide to leave it there because there’s no point in gutting it. But, including imagery of it on the website hopefully means it’s returning.

I guess a new scare zone could go on the pathway from the entrance to Fountain Square to the back of dark forest, with the option to then go into the actual scare maze or just continue into Dark Forest.

The Enterprise site would be a good location for another experience, but I expect we would’ve seen signs of construction by now if this site was to be used.

Am I being dumb yet where is burial grounds imagery being shown as i can't see it ?
There’s a couple on the Scarefest landing page and then again when you go to book scare maze tickets. Whilst looking at this, the price for scare mazes only is £38. Only 3 mazes are included in this year’s line up, so it’s over £12 per mazer without pass discount. Does anyone know if this price has been reduced now that it doesn’t include a 4th maze?

This looks like burial grounds in the top banner video.
Yup that is Burial Grounds, and I hadn't actually spotted yesterday but that video in the top banner has been edited since last year. Originally the Burial Grounds section sat in between a Daz Games clip and a clip of The Attic. So it would have actually required more effort to leave the Burial Grounds section of in place, than it would have been to remove it.

It absolutely has not. If anything, I think it might have gone up. Last year it was advertised as "From £34" which, if I recall correctly, was due to the early slots being cheaper than the later slots - now general entry looks to be a flat £38 no matter the time of day.

Last year was only three mazes in the combo wasn’t it? Daz was always priced separately? Unless my memory is playing tricks.

There is pass holders rate at £30.40 for the 3 mazes in slots from 3pm

That’s better, but £38 for non-pass holders for 3 mazes is steep. Especially remembering the reports from some people about Compound last year where some routes meant you were only in there for 5 minutes.

It’s £1 more than your 1 day entry pass for pretty much all scare fest dates at present!

It is a pass from me. Although I will visit during that time. Alton Towers is magical in the autumn time. A slight bite to the air as the nights draw in, combined with late-night riding in what is a gorgeous part of the country, make Scarefest/fireworks my favorite time to visit.

The parkwide Scarefest lighting around what is a historical and almost mystical mansion, park, and grounds really does show Alton Towers at its best in terms of the area, surroundings and the season that time of year is in.

I may change my mind later on in regard to the mazes; we will see.

One thing with this Scarefest is it being run by RWS Global will be their first true run through to see what they can do
