Oakwood Discussion

Lets hope there is still time for a buyer of the park! But sadly don't think it's going to happen, Megafobia will be next to be dismantled imo

The only difference between the two sagas is that Oakwood has no competition, so this wouldn’t be an issue for Aspro.

Oakwood was the only semi-major theme park in Wales (and probably the only semi-major theme park in the western UK south of Birmingham, for that matter), so there was no competition particularly nearby. And with the park’s demise, Aspro has no other attractions in the UK, to my knowledge (or no other theme parks, anyway), so unless the ability to strip the park of rides so as to fill their other parks was really that compelling, I can’t see why Aspro is so keen to cling onto Oakwood.
It has some aquariums like Hastings and smugglers adventures in Hastings along with the castle.. smugglers which when new was a brilliant attraction was technically brilliant is dated and is just a cash cow.

All wood can be recycled.
My own favourite was the Texas Tornado from Morecambe, all the way round the coast from Paris, reshaped and refigured to fit the new site.

Megafobia is on a specific profile. I'd be very surprised if it's be cheaper to move than just demolish and build new.
Can’t give the price of the quote but it was from gravity group and it was in the high millions the post on Reddit says that mega demolishing has started that’s not true not saying it won’t happen though.

It really is heartbreaking to see the park in that state. Glad that a majority of rides are going to continue operating albeit elsewhere.

I just hope they don't try to relocate Megafobia, and the sensibel thing is done, which is to let Bluestone buy it and them to add it to their offerings. There's definitely a way for them to do so surely.

I can’t see megafobia moving if I’m honest it’s a massive project to move construction costs shipping dismantling if a land deal can be agreed which rumoured has already happened maybe it can be saved only a rumour though

I could see maybe Megafobia getting a remade with the same layout in a different parm rather than relocation
What is a parm?
And relocation would mean finding a site with the same topography...ground features...and that is extremely unlikely.
The only realistic option is to keep as is...or scrap and reuse the tiimber for a different coaster...probably not worth the effort and cost.

Meant park not parm but the layout could be remade with the tweaks to it to adapt it to different terrain

Out of curiosity, what's the difference between relocating the ride and building it in a different park with the same layout? That sounds like two ways of saying the same thing!

You can’t gag reporting of something being demolished - would be laughed out of court unless the only way of finding out was flying a drone over private property.
Technically, you could and the application would be taken seriously. You could certainly get a Super Injunction to prevent the reporting of the dumping of toxic waste, for example, as was the case in RJW v Guardian News and Media Ltd.

Realistically, it is incredibly unlikely that Aspro would have spent north of £250,000 to get a super injunction. What would be the actual benefit or the intention here?

Amusingly, of course, if the Reddit OP actually does believe that a super injunction exists, they've breached it by speaking about its mere existence.
